    A little bit too complicated to answer on here - do a search for 'lag problems on Guitar Hero' and you'll find several useful articles that walk you through the calibration of games like this....

    No, HD cables will not decrease the lag.  In fact, if you increase the video output from 720p to 1080p, more data is sent to your TV causing additional lag. 

    There is no need to buy expensive HDMI cables either unless you have to connect your console from more than 15 meters  away from your TV.
