Would you agree that Professional Game Masters could help to foster a new generation of players?

Well, the answer that keeps tapping at my forehead is this:

Somebody's gotta pay these people. When you put money on the table, I believe some part of the game is lost. I believe we'd see a company trying to foster to the people's wants, or possibly trying to make them play a certain way, or even play a certain game. I for one wouldn't want to see the new generation being sucked into playing 4.0 D&D because Wizards of the Coast (D&D publisher) is the only one to foot the bill for these game masters.

Perhaps this raises a second question. Could there be a possibility of a free service offered by professional game masters? Maybe a website where the GMs all are centered, they teach each other, maybe even open their own conference to usher in this new generation of players. The game masters could organize an entire event where they get together and decide a plot and the players play parts separately? Could be an interesting new world for gaming...

One perspective I have is that if you are really good at something it should be worth your time and effort to whoever recieves benefit or enjoyment of your efforts. However if somone pays to play a game then the rules arguements to me would be elevated many levels higher than playing a free "hobby" game.

As a game master, I put many hours and I spend $100's on materials and other supplies for my game in keeping it creative and organized, I would love to get enough money to cover my expenses.
