First off, why is it listed in the Games, Toys and Hobbies section!

Secondly, if you're an amateur astronomer, what telescope(s) do you use?

I've been trying to grind my own lenses to build my own telescope...but I just don't have the patience and have given up... I need to buy a scope and Christmas time seems to be the best time!

grind your own lenses. are you from the dark ages.! jk lol i got a store bought Meaede with 20x and 50x lenses. After using it a few times I found it was too low power to get anything better than nice surface detail of the moon and barely could see the 4 monns around one of the planets. I think jupiter by the time of the year and the quadrant it was in. i know aperature makes a difference now and one with a large focal mm is best.I'd go straight to the middle ground or you'll get bored quick. Spend the extra bit of money and get one thats bigger than beginner. Mine came with extra usb plugins to download images direct to the comp so that was cool until my motherboard fried.

I've been shopping around for one too for my son.  It's suppose to be for Christmas too, but he'll be happy regardless of when he receives it.  If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them.  Thanks!
