Many parents can relate to Jennifer Telfer, the mom who started My Pillow Pets. In an interview with the San Diego Business Journal, Telfer said the inspiration for the line of stuffed animals that can fold out and double as pillows came from her son, who"had a whole wall of stuffed animals and one that he liked to sleep with had flattened out because he'd lie on top of it like a pillow," she said.

Thanks to her son, Telfer's company, My PIllow Pets, is perhaps the best known brand of pet-themed plush pillows. In 2009, the company was named one of the top 10 hottest toys of the Christmas season, as noted by Oprah Winfrey, and many parents were scrambling to find some of the pillow for their kids. The Magical Unicorn pillow pet, a lavender unicorn with a white mane, was especially difficult to find.
