21 Days to a Less Anxious You

Updated on June 17, 2018

Do You Deal With Anxiety?

Like many people, I deal with anxiety every day. Most times I am able to beat back my anxiety, but other times, I feel like I need a complete overhaul, like an anxiety cleanse.

I have many techniques to calm my mind, but when I need an anxiety overhaul, I need to do some different things for a consistent amount of time to keep myself uplifted and calm. That was the inspiration behind the creation of this list.

The 21 Tips

  1. Go outside for 20 minutes or more. Sunshine gives vitamin D and can boost your mood.

  2. Express your creativity on a page of a coloring book. Having a structured coloring activity calms your mind but you still get that creative feeling.

  3. Think of five things you are grateful for, and write them down. Take your time, make it special and really revel in the good things in your life.

  4. Drink plenty of water. A healthy body will help your mind too.

  5. Pick some of your favorite songs and dance like no one's watching.

  6. Drop Facebook and all social media for a day.

  7. Treat yourself to a long, hot bubble bath.

  8. Try some meditation, just 10 minutes will help.

  9. Get your heart rate up with some cardio exercise for at least 20 minutes.

  10. Hit the hay early instead of staying up late. Sometimes resetting your clock can really help your mood.

  11. Start taking a multivitamin to better your bodily health and your mental health.

  12. Cuddle with a pet to raise dopamine levels. If you don't have a pet, you can go to the shelter, pet store or dog park.

  13. Try meditating again, this time for more than 10 minutes.

  14. Try some Hygge, the Danish art of getting cozy.

  15. Use relaxing essential oils on your skin, even in your bath. They are natural with little to no side effects and can work wonders.

  16. Make your own stress ball and squeeze away.

  17. Carve out a time in your day just for yourself.

  18. Do something you know you have talent in, no matter what it is. Maybe you make beautifully written greeting cards or shoot a mean game of pool. Go out and do it.

  19. Write down all your anxieties.

  20. Under each one, write down a way to deal with that anxiety.

  21. Try to be more positive every day. There's something to be said for the law of attraction. Choosing to be positive will draw positivity towards your.

Using these techniques could lead to a little less anxiety every day. Anxiety is a very tough obstacle to overcome, but working on it a little bit every day will help you achieve a calmer and happier life. You can help your friends and family with anxiety too, by showing them this list and maybe trying a few of them together.
