3 Steps to Living an Active Life

Updated on October 27, 2016

An Active Life is a Good Life

I think to live a good life, it’s essential to live an active life. By active I mean discover the world around you, get to know a variety of people, try new things, develop your talents, and just do things you love around others who enjoy them as well. You’ll build character, always meet new friends, enjoy life, feel satisfied at the end of the day, and most importantly have tons of fun. It’s the solution of a boring, lonely, and routine life, which nobody wants! So if you find yourself being stuck in a routine, and your life seems to only revolve around work, school, or home, try these three steps to living a more active life.

Step 1 – Take on 2 Different Activities a Season

This could be a variety of things, but it should be something you enjoy or maybe have never tried before. This is good for meeting new people, enhancing your skills, warding off depression, boosting your energy and mood, increasing your “know how” in life, becoming socially active, challenging yourself, and having fun.

Examples of Activities

  • Music Lessons
  • Sports
  • Volunteering
  • Cooking Classes
  • Fitness Classes
  • Art Classes

Step 2 – Go to 2 Random Events a Month

This does not include hanging out with friends and people you already know. Of course you can bring people you know along with you, but the goal is to open yourself to new people and experiences, and get outside of the world you are used to. You can try new things, or delve more into things that you love and interest you. This helps build awareness, exposes you to new people, and brings entertainment back into your life.

Examples of Events

  • Music Shows and Concerts
  • Events at Museums
  • Theatre Shows
  • Informational Meetings
  • Trade Events
  • Fairs and Carnivals

Step 3 – Go On 2 Vacations a Year

Going on a vacation really takes you away from your normal life and revitalizes you. I would say go on one vacation to some place new in your own country, and one vacation to some place outside of your country in a year if you can. There are a lot of places that people haven’t discovered in their own backyard that would amaze them, as well as outside of it. Take at least a week off, go some place where you can discover something new, don’t have to worry about cooking and cleaning or living an everyday life, and you can go with someone or by yourself if you have to. The world is your playground so try a variety of different places.

Living an active life is really a choice. If you want to do it there are resources out there for you. It has many rewards and benefits including helping you live a more happy and fulfilled life. So if you are in a rut, looking to meet new people, lonely, bored, and tired of living the same routine in life, gives these steps a try!
