According to a Colorado State University study, grass-fed beef has four times the amount of vitamin E as grain-fed beef. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant with numerous health benefits. It is linked to lower risk of disease and may also help to slow aging.

2. Grass-fed Beef Has More Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Grass-fed cattle contain around 3 times the amount of omega-3 as grain-fed cattle although it varies a bit depending on the breed of cow. Omega-3s are essential fatty acids that cannot be produced by the body and must be obtained through the diet. Omega-3s are essential for a healthy brain function, reduce inflammation, and are associated with a reduced risk of numerous diseases including heart disease and cancer.

3. Grass-fed Beef Has More CLA

CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) is another important fatty acid that is thought to have numerous health promoting properties. Grass-fed beef have around 2-5 more times the amount of CLA than grain-fed beef. CLA hs been studied for its cancer fighting abilities. It is also thought to be beneficial in the reduction of body fat while preserving muscle tissue especially around the abdomen.
