Ab Doer Twist

Updated on May 10, 2011

What is it?

The Ab Doer is an abdominal exercise machine developed by John Abdo and sold by Thane USA. If you are old enough to remember, there was an exercise machine by the name of the Ab Doer. The Ab Doer Twist is a more updated version of the Ab Doer machine with an obvious addition, a twisting motion. The Ab Doer Twist is an abdominal exercise machine developed by John Abdo and sold by Thane USA.

The Ab Doer Twist machine comes with feet, a cushioned seat, a flexible column for the back, a massage roller located on the column, and ergonomically designed arm bars. The cushioned seat allows for the user to exercise longer without pain from sitting getting in the way. The flexible column allows for movement in the abdominal region necessary to work the core. The column also provides resistance when performing abdominal exercises. The massage roller works the upper back muscles while you exercise, providing comfort to that region. The ergonomically designed arm bars allow the abdominal muscles to do all the work, without fear of hurting your shoulders, back, wrists, or elbows.

The Ab Doer Twist is easy to assemble and easy to put away. It is a small machine, so you may have the room to just leave it out when assembled, but for those who don't, it can be folded up and stored out of the way. Not only is the Ab Doer Twist easy to assemble and put away, it is also very easy to use.

How do you use it?

Stretch for 5-15 minutes before using the Ab Doer Twist. Stretch all your muscles, not just the abdominal muscles. Adjust the massage roller to a position that feels comfortable. Sit on the padded seat, making sure that your feet are flat on the ground and shoulder width apart to keep you stable and balanced. Lift your arms up and set them over the arm bars. Grip the handles so that the arm bars are tucked into your armpits and you are able to grip the bars firmly. You may find that you need to adjust the bars. You shouldn’t feel any strain in your arms. Begin the Ab Doer Twist workout video. Be careful not to use your arms throughout the workout. What we want to do is completely focus on the abdominal muscles. As you become more comfortable with the Ab Doer Twist you can make your own workout routine focusing your abdominal needs.

Who is this for?

This product is for people of all fitness types. I have found that this product is especially useful for people who are novices when it comes to working out or people who have had an injury in the past and wish to find a way to workout without irritating the problem area. However, even the most experienced exerciser will be able to get a good abdominal exercise with the Ab Doer Twist.
