Acai Berry Benefits

Marketers speak highly of Acai berry and its juices, and tout it as being a super food for disease prevention and the key to weight loss. The beneficial fruit also has many beneficial anti aging properties. However, the real question here is whether science and research can back up the claims of marketers. In theory, the Acai berry may help prevent diseases caused by oxidative stress like cancer and heart disease. Two antioxidant compounds that this fruit provides are anthocyanins and flavonoids, which happen to be very powerful. Antioxidants help the body fight worldly stressors and provide protection for cells.

Research has shown that consuming a good daily amount of antioxidants can reduce the aging and disease process by removing harmful free radicals. This same research has even proven that antioxidants reduce the risk of some diseases such as heart disease and cancer. People eat Acai berry to help boost their immunity to illness and for weight loss, but so far, Acai berry is not known to do anything that benefits you any more than similar fruits. However, studies are still ongoing. Everyday scientists are finding out more about these super foods and their nutritional benefits.

Acai oil, an extract of Acai berries, is also now used in many cosmetics and beauty products. The concentrated level of antioxidants contained in Acai berry is beneficial as an anti-aging compound. The benefit to cosmetics manufacturers is that the antioxidant levels of Acai oil do not diminish, even after being stored for long periods of time. For this reason, Acai berry oil is a sufficient alternative to other types of oil previously used in cosmetics, moisturizers, tanning creams, and facial treatments.

The effect of Acai berry on rapid weight loss has not been extensively studied. However, there is no doubt at all that eating a healthy diet of fruits will promote weight loss, as well as aid in weight management.  While some claims made my marketers in respect to this little fruit may be exaggerations, the truth about Acai berry is that it does support the immune system, and is an effective combatant against many types of illnesses and diseases. Acai berry is being looked at in many studies for its advanced use in weight loss. However, many nutritional experts speculate that the weight loss benefits of Acai berry are about the same as you would find in cranberries and blueberries-both related berries that contain concentrated levels of antioxidants. Foods rich in antioxidants can be very beneficial for detoxification purposes, and it is true that Acai berry can help rid the body of impurities.
