Are You Addicted To Alcohol Or Just Having Fun

Updated on August 12, 2013

What Fits Your Life

What fits your life style when it comes to drinking alcohol? Are you addicted to alcohol or just having fun?

Drinking alcohol can be enjoyable only when you don't abuse it. If you are the type of person like myself that doesn't know when to say no or doesn't know when enough is enough, then you just might be addicted to alcohol. I speak from many years of drinking alcohol and I must tell you saying no to that next drink can be tough, especially when the party has just begun that you may be at.

Enough Is Enough

Do you know when enough is enough or do you go on drinking until you can stand or sick from over drinking. You know, when I speak of drinking alcohol I don't mean that it is horrible thing, because it is not. It's just that some of us can't handle it as well as others and we the alcoholics can't say no more or that is enough for me. We need to drink until we are totally drunk or just pass out, or black out.

I only wish that I could go to a fine restaurant and have a glass or two of fine wine with dinner, but for the alcoholic, one or two glasses of wine or any alcoholic drink for that matter is not enough to satisfy our cravings for alcohol. One leads to two and three and so on.

Then there are those that have a glass or two of a alcohol beverage and that is plenty for them for the rest of the evening or maybe even the rest of the week.  They eat their meal and drive home safe and sober and very satisfied with that one or two drinks.

Where Do You Draw the Fine Line ?

How do you know if you may be addicted to alcohol? Where do you draw the fine line to just having fun drinking with your friends or family or abusing alcohol with no remorse of the future consequences that may be waiting for you.

I don't know about you but even when it comes to going out to dinner I myself would rather drink and take the dinner home as a take out. There are many people that can only drink and drink only and eat their food after they are through drinking alcohol.

Then we have those that can drink alcohol and eat at the same time and have no problem with mixing the two together, food and alcohol. You may think I'm crazy, but it is the truth that so many people can not drink and eat at the same time. They need to get that buzz first and worry about eating later. They worry that eating food with drinking alcohol would slow up the process of getting buzzed or drunk. It really is a sad situation when you think about it.

Many people want to drink first at dinner or any outing to let them feel a little more relaxed in the company that they are with. They get to that mellow stage and loosen up and start to have conversation and so on with those they are with.

We the alcoholics depend on our alcohol as a crutch to lean on and sort of our security.  As time goes by, getting to that stage of being buzzed or drunk takes more and more alcohol to get there, in which we depend on alcohol more and more to basically survive and live our normal day.

Think Before You Pick up That Next Drink

I am not a Doctor or a Therapist, but when it come to drinking alcohol I have a lot of experience with that, maybe too much experience. You may ask yourself, how would I know if I were an alcohol and when I ask that question to myself the answer was quite simple.

I depended on alcohol and drinking it each and everyday of the week with no break. I never missed work nor drank at work, but when I arrived home it all changed. I didn't feel right when there was the absence of alcohol in my body. I thought that drinking alcohol was the fix all to all of my problems and worries, but I was dead wrong.

There are so many people that do the same as I did and never thought that they may be addicted to alcohol. It is just like a everyday routine to us and part of our everyday life. But, sooner or later everything will catch up to you in regards to drinking alcohol. You will see when you look into the mirror that your appearance is changing and you r personality as well will be notice by other people that are sober, especially when you don't have the alcohol in you when you need it or somewhere were you are doesn't have alcohol and there is no way for you to get any. It really is a scary thought that you need the alcohol, but can't at that present time get your hands on it to drink.

You tend to be very miserable and short with people until you get the some alcohol into your body. These statements are only my experiences and I'm sure others may feel the same way. All I know is that having no alcohol on hand when you are craving it could be very painful and upsetting to the alcoholic.

So, if you think you may be addicted to alcohol, but would like to be clean and sober again, you can try some of these things that helped me change my life around and find my sobriety again.

I started off by admitting I had an addiction to alcohol, which I might add, was very hard to do considering I was living in a world of denial for so many years. I thought my drinking was all for fun, but I was wrong. All that so called fun I was having by drinking alcohol everyday was leading me deeper and deeper into my addiction to alcohol without me even noticing it.

I got myself out of the negative world I was living and started thinking positive things and one of the positive thoughts were that I knew I could and would conquer my addiction to alcohol.

I stayed positive and very determined to change my life for the better by quitting drinking alcohol. (Watch my homemade Video in this Link)

I began to believe in myself more and more each day and started to get more excited with each day I stayed sober. I never thought in a million years it would be possible, but I did it and YOU CAN TOO if you have the desire and willpower to leave the crutch behind and start walking on your own.
