Diet Tips And Diet Plans

Updated on March 29, 2011

Gimmicks

Today, many diets are promoted with gimmicks or packaging which will lead the unsuspecting dieter to believe that the diet will result in permanent weight loss. They may be labeled as revolutionary and major breakthrough. Unfortunately, some of these are prepared by quacks and other by well-meaning faddists. The bad thing is that most of these diets fail to produce the desired results. Beware of Weight Loss Diets.

Less Than 1000 Calories

Many of these diets are nutritionally unbalanced that not only will they fail to produce the desire results but can kill you as well. Many of these diets contain less than 1000 calories. With less than 1000 calories it’s impossible to get all the nutrients your body requires.

The Rich Japanese Diet

Never Lose Weight on Low Calorie Diet

Make no mistake about the fact that any full grown adult will lose weight on low calorie diet with less than 1000 calories per day. The weight loss will not only be in fat, but also in muscle and lean body weight. Your skeletal muscles as well as your heart will weaken. Of all the muscles in your body, the heart is the most important. If that is what you want, then go ahead and diet by eating few calories than you need for your daily activities and your heart will eventually stop.

Three Critical Macro-Nutrients

or one to stay healthy while dieting, it is crucial to get a balanced supply of three critical macro-nutrients other than vitamins and minerals. These macro-nutrients are:

1. Protein

2. fats

3. carbohydrates

Proteins

In basic science, we know that proteins are essential for the growth and repair of our bodies’ tissue such as the muscles. Proteins come from meat, eggs, fish, soybeans and poultry. Any diet with less than 10 per cent protein of your daily caloric intake is incomplete.

Fats

Fats are essential source of energy as well as being an important part of cell membranes. Fats are used by our bodies for insulation and as a structural component. You get fats in nuts, seeds, meat, fish and dairy products. Fats are essential to good health but should be restricted to less than 30 per cent of daily calories.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are sugars and starches. They provide instant and quick energy in our bodies. You get carbohydrates from bread, potatoes, cereals, vegetables and fruits. Your daily caloric intake should contain no less than 60 per cent carbohydrates.

Your Heart Will Eventually Stop

Make no mistake about the fact that any full grown adult will lose weight on low calorie diet with less than 1000 calories per day. The weight loss will not only be in fat, but also in muscle and lean body weight. Your skeletal muscles as well as your heart will weaken. Of all the muscles in your body, the heart is the most important. If that is what you want, then go ahead and diet by eating few calories than you need for your daily activities and your heart will eventually stop.

Severe Caloric Restriction

Carbohydrates are indeed very important in your diet because they reduce the potential of your body breaking down muscles in order to produce energy. Under severe caloric restriction, your body will as well break fat and muscle for energy.

Lean Body Mass

If after severe dieting for a period of time, you decide to stop dieting; your caloric intake will increase to above normal pre-diet levels. This will result in weight gain. This gain in weight is mainly from fats because muscles regain their former size very slowly as compared to fats. Because of this, you will end up with less muscles and more fats than before you started dieting. When you gain weight again, you diet again and repeat the same pattern. If you continue this pattern long enough, lean body mass and muscle tissue is permanently lost which can not be restored.

Nutritionally Balanced Diet

The solution is that proper dieting will require you to follow a nutritionally balanced diet with sufficient daily caloric intake and an active lifestyle. If for example you just adapted to the rich Japanese diet you may end up losing weight, preserving your muscle size and achieve that slender, firm figure without necessarily having to follow the revolutionary and breakthrough diets from quacks.
