Bring It: P90X Day 20

Updated on December 29, 2011

P90X is an extreme workout and sometimes I am known for taking things to the extreme. That being said, I have decided I am going to do the entire 90 day program. I am going to the extreme to test if this program actually works. This series is my personal journey.

Bring It

Today is Saturday and that always throws me off. I don't get up by the sound of an alarm. I get up because I am fully rested or because my kids start charging into my room. That means I am not following a rigid schedule like I normally do during the weekdays. However, one day a week I can stray a little from the strict schedule. Today was that day.

It was a busy day and unless I woke up really early, I wouldn't have really had time to get my workout in anyway. We needed to be in Palm Springs this morning by 10, which was a solid hour drive from our house. That means not only do we have to get up and get ready, we have three kids to get out the door as well. Anybody who has kids, knows that is a challenge. We ended up running late.

By the time we got home, we had a few things to unload before my husband headed off to work. By the time I looked at the clock, it was already 5 p.m. and I hadn't done my workout yet. I was starting to feel the pressure.... Would today be the day I lost my streak?

The answer to that is no! I made myself the priority. I told everybody to get out of my hair, I was working out. And that is exactly what I did.

Even though I did more of an evening type workout, I was still motivated for it. Today was KenpoX and that is one of my favorites for the entire week. To make it even more memorable, it is also the last one before recovery week. That means I pushed myself as hard as I could. I threw my punches, I did my kicks, and I am pretty sure if my livingroom was a dark alley, I would be able to defend myself.

Not only did I Bring It today, but I was able to find the time to do so when life gets hectic!

When you have 3 kids, it is important to take time for yourself.

You got to make the time!!!

So many times have I heard people use the excuse, "I just don't have time to workout!" I have even used that excuse many times in the past. Possibly about 21 days ago I used the same excuse. But now, I am done with the excuses.

My life is hectic. I have a husband and I have three kids. I have a house that I need to take care of. And frankly, life happens. But I have made it my goal, if only for 90 days, to take a little time out for myself. It is needed; it is therapeutic. And frankly, I deserve it!

As a mom, there have been so many times that I have given everything I have to everybody else. I know there are other mom's out there who do the same thing. When they give everything, they have nothing left for themselves.

Now is the time to start thinking differently. I am not saying the other people in your life aren't important, but you are important too! When you take the time out for yourself, you will end up feeling better. When you exercise, you will end up having more energy. It is really a win-win for everybody around.

If you take the time to exercise, you are giving something very beneficial to yourself. You are giving yourself happy endorphins, you are giving yourself strength, and you are also giving yoruself time to think. You will end up feeling great.

After all that, can you really afford not to make the time for yourself?
