Bring It: P90X Day 42

Updated on December 29, 2011

P90X is an extreme workout program created by Tony Horton. It is full of 12 different DVDs all with the same goal in mind - to get you into the best shape of your life. I am on a personal journey to see whether this workout system is worth the time and the money invested. After all, to own your own copy of P90X is a bit pricey and before getting your own copy you are going to want to know if it is worth it. By the time I hit 90 days, I will be able to tell you if it is worth it.

IThis is my own personal journey and if you would like to start from the beginning of this series, please click here. If you want to read about my previous day with P90X, click here.

Feel free to leave your comments below. I am looking for the extra boost in motivation, but in turn, I am hoping to motivate you with your very own fitness goals. Together we can make this world a stronger place.

Bring It

Today I have the option - and like most people, I like having options. I can choose to take the day off or I can put that video in and do X Stretch. Lately I have been taking the day off. What can I say - it has been a busy few weeks. But let's get real... I have been pretty much resting the whole weekend.

Yes - I said it - this weekend has been as close to lazy as I have gotten in awhile. I slept in every single day. I didn't really bother to clean the house. I didn't go anywhere really. I just kind of sat around. Doing nothing. And doing nothing feels good. (Although I will admit doing something actually feels better!)

So today I decided to go ahead and push play with X stretch. As I was in Downward Dog, the blood rushing to my head, I realized X stretch is just a simplified version of Yoga. There isn't much of a sweat breaking lose, but it does incorporate a few Yoga poses. It feels good; and it definately goes by pretty fast considering all your doing is stretching.

While I always encourage a good break every once in awhile, stretching is definately important. It will decrease your chances of injury, increase your performance, and will also help you reach your toes. In the short 6 weeks I have been doing this program I have seen my flexibility just jump. If I stretch my arms straight behind me, they are actually higher than a vertical position. That is a great accomplishment since some can't even get them parallel to the floor. I can also almost completely wrap my hand around my foot when sitting in a hamstring stretch. i see a yoga block in the near future to increase the stretch further. (So yes - that means I can reach beyond my toes!)

But yet... I seem to have a problem... and it's a big one!

I have a problem...

So you might be thinking my first problem is that I am actually crazy enough to push through a workout that far exceeds my capability levels. (I thought that at first as well, but even through the struggles, I have gained strength!)

Then, you might be thinking, "Oh no - did she hurt herself doing this program?" I assure you, I am completely healthy and fiine.

In fact, the problem that I have is probably a good one. One that most people can't wait to get to. And finally, I can admit that I have a problem. And we know that admitting to having a problem is the first step!

So, before everybody here... I am going to admit my problem. I am not going to hang my head in shame... as I don't feel I have any need to be ashamed at this... but here I go...

My workout clothes no longer fit!

Yep - that is my problem. I feel much lighter now that I have admitted it. And I have been noticing this problem coming forth in the last week. Not just in my workout clothes, but in plenty of my other pieces gracing my wardrobe. A few days ago I put on a shirt I got for Christmas last year. I have never worn it because unfortunately, the gift was just a touch too small. Yet, the other day, I rocked it. Then, just the other day, I accidently took my jeans off without unbuttoning them. I didn't even realize I did it until they were already completely off. And today, as I was doing X stretch, I was in my Shoulder Stand, when suddenly my shirt feel down completely covering my face and exposing everything. Lucky for me, no one was around to witness this. And while I was standing, lucky for me, I was able to move quick to pull up my pants before they were around my ankles.

So what is the big deal?

Well, that means all my workout clothes are going to need to be tossed out or donated. That means I am going to have to go out and treat myself to something new to workout in so I am not doing laundry every other day to avoid sweaty, smelly clothes. That also means I am in between sizes. Still to big to get into my smaller clothes (that luckily I kept around just in case!) but to small to keep with my current wardrobe.

So what's a girl to do? I guess it's time to go shopping... not to bad of a problem to have!

Smile - it looks good on you!
