Burn calories and lose weight with the indo board and other celebrity fitness crazes.

Updated on October 5, 2012

Getting fit the celebrity way.

When you're in the public eye and get photographed as often as a celebrity does, it's important that you look at your best. I for one have seen the pictures taken of celebrities off guard and the results are often less then flattering. This can be detrimental to their career, image and a real knock to their confidence.

One way to help celebrities avoid this is to participate in an effective, frequent, exercise routine, one that helps them to achieve a desirable, attractive body and obtain the goal of reaching their body at it's best. Regular exercise is all so good for the mind, is beneficial to health and improves general well being. Celebrities travel all over the world frequently meeting new people and discovering new things. Occasionally they come across an influential, little known, under valued or new fitness concept, that they adopt and then promote, weather heavily or subtly to the Masses.

People follow the fitness routines of these celebrities because they are perceived as attractive and something to aspire to. If a fitness programme has that kind of a result, then I want to do it.

So what's set to be big in 2010?

Power plates has already gained some momentum recently and is set to explode in popularity in the coming year. 46 year old, super model Elle MacPherson and 31 year old Glamour model Jordan aka Katie Price are just two of the celebrities embracing power plates.

A power plate machine is a heavy duty vibrating plate, on which various exercises are performed. The plate itself causes muscles to contract as much as 50 times a second and is believed to help with body conditioning at the very core. The power plate is also designed to cut down exercise time by 75% and is thought to significantly improve cellulite.

At the moment you can only indulge in some Jukari in Britain at Reebok sports club London, however due to ever increasing interest in this exercise, centers all over the U.K. will soon be show casing it.

Cirque du soleil played a pretty significant hand in the invention of Jukari and it shows. Jukari is a essentially a trapeze, it's called a flyset and involves 12 specially designed maneuvers, to perform on a stirrup and a maneuverable weighted bar. The flyset moves a full 360 degrees for optimum resistance and strength building.

Celebrities embracing this particular trend are 29 year old socialite Kim Kardashian and 23 year old actress Mischa Barton.

This is probably the one that appeals to me the most, it is a fun and effective mix of latin american dance moves, Rumba, Salsa and mambo, very dirty dancing. Aerobic, cardio vasculer and calerie burning to the extream. Usually consisting of an hour long session, however if you are new to an exersice routine a beginers dancing group is recommended.

Zumba is favoured by a host of celebrities including 37 year old desperate housewives star, Eva Longaria and 37 year old Singer Ricky Martin.

TRX suspension training.

This involves a variation of different moves, 300 to be precise! Pushing, pulling and stretching yourself, being tied to a metal bar with attached elasticated ropes. Based on training techniques of the US Navy no less, this particular exercise is ideal for the improvement of posture, for flexibility, muscle tone, balance and core strength.

34 year old, actor Tobey Maguire and 40 year old singer Gwen Stefani are keen TRX suspension training participants. With the prospect of being able to boast 500 calorie burn per 30 minute session, it's easy to see why.

The most unusual of the celebrity fitness crazes set to dominate 2010 has got to be the kettlebells. A fifteen minute kettlebell session is all the time needed to start seeing results and making improvements to your general strength.

These Russian army designed weights can be used not only to lift but also to be pressed, swung and pulled. Up to 375 calories can be burned in one effective quarter of an hour session and two kettlebell sessions a week can produce results of an over all, 1% loss in body fat.

51 year old, singer and pop legend Madonna, 40 year old actress, singer and mother of twins, Jenny from the block aka Jennifer Lopez and 28 year old Jessica Alba are all kettlebell weight lifters.

Indu Board.

37 year old actress Cameron Diaz and 22 year old actor Zac Efron are celebrities that are both enjoying the body benefits of the Indu board.

The Indu board helps improve core muscles, coordination and predominantly leg strength. You can implement all manor of fitness maneuvers on the wooden board with a roller wheel, including squats, lunges and push ups. The product is the invention of a surfer and the Indu board applies a lot of the surfing exercise principles that go with it.

Can be tricky especially if balance is not a strong point of yours, however with a little patience and practice it is very easy to use. Unlike some of the previous listed celebrity fitness crazes for 2010, this is one that you can do at home.

Celebrity fitness crazes 2010, poll.

Which of these celebrity fitness crezes of 2010 would you like to try?
