Color Therapy - Healing properties of color White

Updated on April 12, 2010

Recently, I was just browsing through my favorite topics, and landed on this one - Chromotherapy, which means color healing. The idea intrigued me a lot, and I decided to do some research on this. I even implemented certain of these techniques in my day-to-day life, such as wearing clothes of a particular color for a specific purpose. I noticed certain significant differences, colors made in my daily activities. Much pleased by the results till now, I decided to share some of the information here. So, here I start with one of my favorite colors, which is no color at all - White!

Following are certain facts and healing properties of color white, which can be incorporated in our lives to get benefits:

  • White represents new beginnings, freshness, innovative outlook and purity. It has it typical healing properties. White, essentially represents all the colors and hence symbolizes perfect harmony and balance.

  • Any divine light, light of protection or light of an enlightened soul is always represented to be white in color. White light helps in raising the vibration of one's mind, body and soul. Even our angels and all divine souls are considered to be dressed in white.

  • Channelizing white light to a body's affected area is the most efficient and fastest way of healing, according to the holistic studies.

  • White color is also utilized in regeneration. It balances the energies related to the chronobiological rhythm and helps in the stimulation of serotonin production, which helps in regulation of a person's nervous system and sleep.

  • White color can act as an excellent healer for re-balancing the disturbances and depressions caused due to hormonal imbalances and psychophysical problems amongst people.

  • Wearing white clothes will facilitate you in reducing any feelings of anxiety, disappointment or frustration. Since, white represents cleansing, purity and new start-up, putting on a white apparel would make you feel as if you are given a new chance to make a new beginning on a fresh pitch. Try to wear fresh and bright white clothes, instead of the dingy, dull or over-washed ones.

  • According to some studies, a person who has a dislike for white color usually has a mindset for the materialistic and tangible objects. He has a measurable point of view for everything and does not believe in illusions or things that can go beyond normal vision and understanding. He usually accepts, acknowledges and is proud of this behavior, and does not wish to change it either.
  • White Gemstones: When put on, they represent a powerful divine life essence, activeness and positivity. They symbolize dynamism and corresponding stimulation of the supreme, within us. They can be used to protect a person's mind and body. Various white gemstones are:

Ammonite , Apophyllite, Calcite, Celestite, Coral, Danburite, Diamond , Dolomite , Howlite, Ivory, Moonstone, Opal Pearl, Petalite, Phenakite, Serpentine, Sodalite, Boracite.

  • White Candles: They represent power and purification process. Candle healing, when done with a white candles can help in surpassing the power of any other color.

  • Apart from these healing tools, white crystals also serve in providing particular healing therapies related to the problems of depression, low self-esteem and the like.

White light is the space within the universe where all the positive energies are kept. White light can not harm anyone, in anyway. Because of this reason, all the negative energies can be channelized to the white light for their purification and transformation.

"White is not a mere absence of color; it is a shining and affirmative thing, as fierce as red, as definite as black. God paints in many colors; but He never paints so gorgeously, I had almost said so gaudily, as when He paints in white."
~ Chesterton, Gilbert K.

This is an interesting topic. I have a relation that wears only white. Nice and fashionable, but still only white.

After reading this great hub, i now realise she probably wears them for reasons such as those you mentioned.

I will now experiment too. Thanks for sharing this calicoaster.

      Cheers.
