Diabetes probably is the most common disease in this world. It is such a disease which cannot be avoided, because it can even lead to death at its final stage. Many recent studies have detected that if diabetes is detected at an early stage, then its treatment can be easily done, which shall reduce its complications.

In medical terms, there are two different types of diabetes, generally known as Type 1 Diabetes & Type 2 Diabetes. Both have different symptoms. 1st part of this thread will deal with Type 1 diabetes symptoms.

Unusual weight loss

This is one of the most common & early symptom. Loosing weight can start at early stage & shall continue till later stages. You may lose weight quite quickly, although it maybe not very much visible at earlier stage.

Frequent urination

Another common symptom of Diabetes. A diabetes patient faces the trouble of urination in every 15 minutes or less. That’s why it’s recommended for the patient’s that they should always have their medicines at time because then urination problem may become worse at times. This is one of the worst problem one shall face while going out.

Unusual Thirst

Diabetes patient often feels very thirsty. It is directly linked with Frequent urination. These 2 are called classic symptoms. Every doctor recommends to a diabetes patient to always keep a bottle filled with water with them. Although it’s a common symptom but not a very noticeable one. The main cause behind this symptom is that the kidneys don't work properly which causes Frequent urination & thus, unusual thirst.

Extreme Hunger

Due to unusual weight loss, diabetes patients face this problem as well. They often want to eat a lot, then their normal diet. But, they should never have things, which contain sugar & cholesterol. Both of these increases diabetes & also leads to blood pressure problems.The cells become starved for glucose and hunger increases. You may feel extreme hunger even after eating.

Fatigue & Irritability/Itching

Fatigue is a another common symptom of many other diseases as well. That’s why it’s not very to detect diabetes from it. Irritability here means, itching problems which occur at a later stage. Itching in the genital area is common with high blood sugar levels. The lower part of the legs is another common area for itching and can be a sign of early diabetes.


If you, or any of your relative has these common symptoms & he is not aware about his sugar level. He/ She should immediately visit a doctor.

Sexual Dysfunction
The problems associated with typ2 diabetes cuase decrease in sex satisfaction in both men & women. These include erectile dysfunction in men, and difficulty, discomfort, or pain during sex. These symptoms can even be caused by high blood sugar levels that damage your nervous and circulatory systems which are important for normal sexual function. Other conditions like having yeast infections and dehydration, can make sex uncomfortable.
Fatigue
Although there are many causes related to diabetes which can lead to fatigue but one of the major cause is Dehydration. The inability to use sugar properly and efficiently for energy needs can also cause fatigue.
Skin Complications or Changes
Although there are various skin changes which are associated to diabetes but having bacterial & fungal infection is most common among the patients of diabetes.. They also have more problems with itching. These conditions causes velvety dark skin in bodily creases such as the neck, groin, and armpits. Let your doctor know if you develop other skin changes such as spots, scaly patches, blisters, bumps, rashes, and thinning or thickening of the skin.
Increased Hunger
Increased hunger is one of the early symptom of this type of diabetes. Insulin helps your body to get energy but When you have type 2 diabetes, your cells become resistant to Insulin. . The cells become starved for glucose and hunger increases. You ,ay start feeling very hungry even after having timely meals.
Increased Weight Loss
If you have been hungry and eating yet have lost weight without trying you should alert your doctor. However, People with type 2 diabetes typically do not lose as much weight as those with type 1 diabetes. Alternatively, let your doctor know if you have had recent weight gain.
Itching
Itching is another earlier sign/symptom of diabetes. Although itching is very common & can be because of others reasons too. So consult your doctor in this regard. The most common part in your body for such problem is the lower part of body. It is the first place where this problem starts.
