Does leg lengthening surgery work?
You already know about the stomach-turning procedure called leg lengthening, but perhaps you are wondering... does it work?
The short answer to this, is yes.
As a child, doctors diagnosed me with a condition called hypochondroplasia, and predicted I would not exceed 4 and a half feet at my peak. (This later turned out to be a mis-diagnosis, but that's another story). As a result of this, at the age of 11 after a long period of discussion and consultation with parents and doctors, I decided to opt in for a pioneering surgery they were trialing at the Sheffield Children's Hospital (United Kingdom).
Without offering the details of the procedure (I intend on writing up my experience as an article in its own entity), I gained approximately 3 inches in height as a result of the operation.
How tall I am now
Despite doctors' predictions, I actually grew to a natural 5''5 (with an actual height of 5''8 as a result of my leg lengthening surgery), which is proof of 2 things:
- Leg lengthening surgery works
- Doctors aren't always right
