Fish oil is found in all types of fish and contains omega-3s fatty acids providing you with nutrition for a healthy heart, Drugs.com reports. Fish oil has different names such as omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, Marine oils, n-3 fatty acids, omega-3 fatty acids and marine oil fatty acids.

Chemical Makeup
Fish oil is made up of EPA and DHA both fatty acids known as omgea-3 contains a higher amount of DHA in opposed to EPA. DHA helps in the break down and prevention of triglycerides in your bloodstream. This fatty acid will help prevent other health problems such as heart palpitations.

Fish contain omega 3- fatty acids, Drugs.com states. The recommended intake of fish is twice a week for the American Heart Association, University of Maryland Medical Center indicates.

Heart Disease Prevention
Fish oil helps to prevent heart disease by lowering the triglyceride levels in your blood. Plaque cannot build up in your arteries if triglycerides no longer build up in your blood stream. Fish oil will help you to attain more energy while stopping the arthritic pain associated with inflammation of your joints.
