Horrifying Addictions

Updated on December 5, 2012

My Strange Addiction

So I have to admit I am addicted to the tv show My Strange Addiction on TLC. It amazes me every time I watch it and I never miss a minute of it! I'm hooked! Anyways, if you've never watched the show it's about addictions different people have. Not just any addictions, but very bizarre ones. Trust me, you have to watch it. You won't be able to peel your eyes away from the television and it will leave you in shock hours after the show is over.

Woman who eats her husbands ashes.

So I have to say this is the most disturbing episode I seen out of them all. I couldn't even believe what I was seeing. This woman literally eats her husband's ashes right out of the urn! Yes, I'm serious. I was mortified. When she was transferring the ashes she accidentally knocked some on her hands and said she didn't want to wipe it away, so she licked it off her hands. She had been doing this for months before she was casted on the show. She even takes his remains with her everywhere she goes, eating him along the way. Her own comment "He's not gonna be there if I eat him!"

Snorting baby powder.

That sounds like it's gotta be bad for you, right?? I can't imagine how someone could possibly snort anything up their nose, let alone baby powder. This lady is so addicted she snorts five ounces of baby powder each and every day. Her friends were actually convinced she had a drug problem because they would see white powder on table surfaces when visiting, and she was too ashamed to admit her real problem. She just packs the powder on a spoon and then crams it into her nose up to ten times a day. She claims if she wasn't able to have her baby powder she simply couldn't function.

Eating glass

Ouch! Eating glass? Yes indeed. Josh is addicted to eating glass. On the show he stated he has eaten more than 250 light bulbs and 100 glasses. He actually prefers wine glasses when choosing what glass to eat because it is a thinner glass, same with light bulbs. He states he is probably addicted to the attention he gets from it more than the actual habit.

Eating dryer sheets

Mmm the taste of fresh linen on your tongue. NOT! Lady cannot stop eating dryer sheets. She actually chews on it for awhile, then spits it out. Kind of like gum in her own words. She was chewing up to 8 sheets a day. She even says they taste tangy, and helped cope with her stress.

Eating Drywall

Instead of remodeling your home, why not eat it? This lady on My Strange Addiction actually loves the taste, texture and smell of drywall. She literally eats her own home. She eats it off her own home, her friend's homes and even her grandmother's home. Even better, she has a preference on which type she likes! She's been eating it for 7 years and it started with eating chalk. She eats it up to 6 times a day on average.

I love this show! It's pretty gruesome and hard to look at, but I find it interesting that people have gotten to that point. I can't imagine swallowing 3 bullets though. To me, that's just a little too insane.

Did you see the episode about the woman addicted to breast augmentation? She became suicidal when they had to be removed due to a serious infection.
