Prioritize Your Priorities!

I read some where that you should not prioritize your schedule, but schedule your priorities.

I wholeheartedly agree!

In my worthwhile quest to live the life I am meant to live I strongly believe in pursuing a lifestyle where we are thriving instead of only surviving.

However, living a healthy lifestyle involves working on it every day; in addition to working on more than just diet and exercise--which is key in living a higher quality of life.

Every day we make choices, but sometimes our choices leave us reeling, struggling and not thriving. Living healthy not only means a healthy life of diet, exercise and financial stability, but also a life that focuses on selfless pursuits for a better quality of life resulting in the ultimate achievement of spiritual, emotional and mental well-being.

I thought I would give you all one to make you chuckle!

"Family was sitting at the dinner table. The father pulls out a new invention he made. A robot that detected when someone was lying. When it heard a lie it would punch the person lying! The father says, "Ok, son, where did you go after school today?"

The son replies, apprehensively, "I went to the library, Dad!" The robot punches the boy. The Mom laughs the hardest and says, "See, that's YOUR son alright...ehhehehehe" The robot punches the Mom so hard it malfunctions!

Hope you got the joke! Now laugh!

Laughter is good for you. It releases good hormones that make you feel happy and alive. So, go on and LOL---literally!

Easier said than done, huh? Well, no, it is. Stressing is part of life, but it is NOT life. Stress kills. It does! When we overdo anything it can be stressful. You hear it all the time; we are overworked, overweight, and chronically stressed in so many ways.

As we all know, right now, especially during these hard economic times, we still have choices.

Choose to stress less. Step away from excessive multi-tasking, over committing to tasks, occassions and work projects (not completely, but you know what I mean!) At the end of life, does it really all matter? Have you read a book lately? Have you actually met with a friend for some brunch instead of facebooking or twittering them? Have you taken a yoga or meditation class? Get the picture?

Stress less and live more.

Breathe Deeply

During times of stress we even forget how natural and necessary it is to inhale and exhale properly.

Breathing deeply instantly de-stresses you inside and out. Your mind takes a break as the oxygen floods your brain in a healthy way.

Check your breathing and make sure you are breathing deep, long and from the diaphragm. Focus on the peaceful bliss as you inhale and exhale. Remind yourself that breathing clears your mind and invigorates your soul.

Eat To Fuel

Be aware and conscious of what you are putting into your body.

Nutrition makes or breaks you inside and out. Our bodies are like our cars, fill it up with gas and off it goes; same thing with us. Give your body what your mind is looking for. Feed it healthy, organic and nutritious foods. Both your mind and your body will be stronger, clearer and healthier for it.

A sound healthy body, builds a sound and healthy mind, resulting in better moods, energy levels and quality sleep.

Associate With Nature

The natural beauty of the world is something that instantly relaxes me. Go out, take a break, take a walk. Fill your mind with naturally visual stimulants like trees, flowers, valleys, water and more.

The more we associate with nature the more at ease and calmer we feel. The phenomena of the physical world collectively, including all landscape, animals and other features of the earth are to be appreciated every day by the mind, body and soul.

Develop Your Passions

Life is not all about the nine to five grind, now is it? The word "grind" alone stresses us out. Develop your passions. Find that one thing or two or three that you LOVE to do. And please, do not let anyone tell you that you are wasting your time working on your dreams, hopes and aspirations. Use the naysayers to keep on keeping on. I call it "K.I.M." Keep it moving.

When you keep it moving and keep working at what makes you tick you feel good about yourself, your abilities and it flourishes. So, why not keep going at it? Develop your passions by engaging in work that is closest to who you really are as a person and what you are naturally gifted and talented in.

When you work on passions near and dear to your personality, talents and skills you are just a lot happier.

Have Fun!

Go dancing. Enter a karaoke contest. Watch an animated movie with your kids. Dress up for Halloween. Sing out loud. Play angry birds. Play catch. Take a Zumba class. Play the Wii. Wear a funny hat. Skydive. Get a tattoo. Dress up with your child. Paint ball. Go on a roller coaster. Take up a martial art. Take a crochet class. Bake a cake. Fly a kite. Run a 5k. Play a sport. Go see a Broadway show.

Sky is the limit.

Think Positively On Purpose

Think positively on purpose every day! I know we all have those days, weeks, months and even years, but if we train our minds to focus on the positive and keep life in perspective then just do it.

I am constantly thinking positively on purpose because honestly thinking negatively does nothing but make me feel horrible. End of story.

Thinking positive immediately changes your mind and your body reacts well too.

You can not think negative and feel good. Think positive. Be positive.

Connect Spiritually

Spirituality is different for all of us. We all have our own beliefs, religious or not, but we all have some level of spiritual values that affect our lives. In this day and age of consumerism, excess, advanced technologies and lack of common sense, we have somewhat regressed from our spiritual core.

To live a balanced, happier life you have to, many times, connect or re-connect spiritually to bring life back into perspective. Life is not all about the material pursuits on this earth, but it also involves a deeper human spirit and connection.

Think deeply about what your spiritual values are and rediscover them. Tap into them and pursue a more meaningful human existence. A happier life involves a deep connection with your spiritual self.

Never Give Up!

We encounter people every day that just show up to fill space, not realizing that if they keep on thinking and acting that way they will end up living a dead life; uninspired and just going through the motions that they have settled and conformed to.

I know it is hard to always be positive, but really think about how you feel when all you think, breathe, ingest and create is NEGATIVITY! How miserable is that? What kind of life and health are you creating? So, why not focus on the POSITIVE. Why not accept that "this too shall pass" and we are in control of being architects of the change we can manifest. Ghandi said it best, huh?

Connecting the mind with the body to reach the soul, inevitably, in my opinion, results in a healthy lifestyle full of peace and balance. And is not that the way life should be?

Live happy and healthy. Yes, you can!

      I also walk a lot. I wear a pedometer and log it and I am averaging 3 miles a day. Walking is great and low impact.
