How To Get Clean And Sober Using Your Mind And Positivity

Updated on July 14, 2011

Anyone can achieve anything in their life if you have a positive attitude and your frame of mind is on the right track.

How to get clean and sober using your mind and positivity is up to each and every person that is addicted to drugs or alcohol. It is all up to them and them only if they truly want to change their lives for the better.

People can talk, preach and lecture the alcoholic or drug addicted till they're blue in the face, but if the addicted is not willing to change and get clean and sober then all the talking is a waste of time. This is my opinion only, and going by my life of addiction to alcohol I can honestly say I laughed inside when people would question and preach to me regarding my addiction to alcohol.

I said, as many other alcoholic say, "these people are crazy, there is nothing wrong with me." I am not harming anyone and minding my own business, so we the alcoholics think. I can tell you that we were the people that were dead wrong not the rest of the world.

Many times when people like myself that are addicted to alcohol or drugs they tend to be a bit negative in there everyday life. You may ask why is that, and I can tell you that alcohol is a depressant and if you have any type of problem in your life and drink to wash it away then I am here to tell you it doesn't work.

Oh yes, it may work while you are drinking alcohol only because you maybe concentrating on getting drunk to help your problem, but as the night draws to the end and the booze is all drank that problem still there.

You may have thought that drinking alcohol would solve all problems, but did it? My answer is that it did not work and will not work, it only makes things worse. Thinking and acting in a negative fashion will not help anything and drinking along with that negative attitude makes things even worse, at least it did for me.

You can't go wrong with thinking Positive and having a Positive attitude. Things in your life will go so much smoother thinking this way. You can train your mind to do anything if you truly want it bad enough and quitting drinking alcohol is what I wanted so bad as well as other people addicted to alcohol. It's just that sometimes we don't know how to get out of the addiction we are in and very confused and sometimes embarrassed of our addiction to alcohol.

Do you really think that anyone that is now or has been addicted to alcohol set out on a given day and said to them self, "I think i will try and destroy myself, my life, my family and everything i have worked so hard for." No, we the people that are addicted to alcohol or drugs just took the wrong path one day and those rotten demons grabbed us hook, line and sinker.

This my friends, is how we get addicted to alcohol or drugs. We didn't intend to get this way, it is just what happens when you have no willpower to say no and fight your inner demons that I may add, will ruin your life, ONLY if you allow them to do so.

To make it short and sweet, if you want a better life for yourself and your families I would recommend changing your outlook on life and start to think positive thoughts. Believe me, if it wasn't for my positive attitude knowing that I could indeed beat my inner demons I wouldn't be writing this now, I would be sitting in a bar, drinking alcohol and crying in my beer saying, "why me,"

If you want to live the clean life you can. All you have to do is to want it bad enough and if you can not do it on your own ask for the help that you need to achieve sobriety.

There are many people in your life such as your families and friends that would be more than glad to help you in anyway and thousands of Rehab. Centers all over the world waiting to help anyone that is willing to help themselves.

God Bless all those that are addicted to drugs or alcohol. Get that mind of yours thinking positive and get out of the rut you are in by drinking alcohol everyday of your life. You can do it !!! You can do it!!! Keep telling yourself this and if you say it enough and keep positive about wanting to be clean and sober, then it will happen and when it does you will be so proud of yourself that you were able to beat your inner demons as I was. BELEIVE AND YOU WILL ACHIEVE!

Be proud and brag as I did and still do about your sobriety. Never be ashamed, or feel as if you are a no one because you have quit drinking alcohol. You are now a better person, so be proud and start to live that life that we were given and live it clean and sober.

I think our language, perhaps the way we think about our experience in words, has a huge impact on how we experience our experience.

The challenge for addicts is breaking out of the loop of addictive thinking and addictive language. A lot of I can't's. I have found that allowing myself to think BIG, that there really is a God who truly wants to take care of me, was a way of letting go of my addictive thinking and allowing myself to be free and create a new picture of myself and a new picture of my experience of life, both the painful parts of my life as well as the joyfilled parts of my life.

Write more for us because most of us do not have a clue what positive thinking means or what it is.

Anywho, thanks for the hub. We all need to know we CAN be clean and sober. Ultimately it is a choice to be clean and sober and even the choice is tricky because the addiction does have a hold on us, but we still have a choice to let go of the hold and to create the language and the thought processes that support letting go. I find "surrendering" to a caring God is a huge support for me in creating that thinking and that language.
