How do we lose control of our lives? What is it that controls you? Too often in life, we experience pain and we do not have the proper tools to cope with what has happened. We succumb to alcohol, food, or recreational drugs. Everything spins out of control.
You wake up and find your life in such a mess that you do not know how to take it back. What do you do? Everything from your relationships, your finances, and your life goals have suffered. How do you rebuild?
Negative vs. Positive
The first step is to rid you of all negative influences. Even if it is the people who surround you, you have to take care of you. Take a long hard look at where you’re at, where you’ve been, and where you want to be. Don’t look at it as where you should be. People make mistakes every day. Where you should be is not the issue. The issue is where you’re at and where you want to be.
There is an old Japanese Proverb that says, “Fall seven times and stand up eight.”
What do you want from life? What do you need to do to achieve them? Formulate a plan by setting goals. Then take action. Remember, to set your goals high enough to inspire you and low enough to encourage you. In other words, start out by setting “little goals,” one after the other. The attainment of one small goal will give you the feel of success and teach you technique. It will help you to rebuild your self-confidence and self-esteem. The “little goals” add up to bigger goals. All too often we try too much too soon only to end up in defeat and frustration.

Remember, there can be no success without enthusiasm. The secret of a full life is lots of enthusiasm, the kind that keeps you fighting and winning over all obstacles—and enjoying every minute of it. Don’t just exist, LIVE!
