Find out more about the one diet that can give you the results that you are looking for: The Keto Diet!

Keto Diet Review: Where I am now...

In my last article I explained everything you need to know if you're on the fence about the Keto diet. If you didn't read it then you can check it out here. Now for those that are still skeptical, I will tell you where I am in my Keto diet journey. Maybe some real facts from a real person will inspire you to make that change for yourself. There are some things about the Keto diet that the so called "experts" don't tell you about. I will speak on that in this article. So sit back and enjoy!

First of all my fiance and I don't refer to this Keto thing as a diet. I told you in the last article that word "diet" is such a limiting term. We don't refer to it as a diet. We think of it as a lifestyle change. Because that's what it is! I have lost a total of 25 pounds! She has lost a total of 15. I know it might seem unfair for her, but as I explained in my last article, women lose weight a lot slower on this diet than men. I don't know why, they just do. Plus she is at the weight that she wants to be right now anyway. So if she is happy, then so am I. But I know your next question," Once you reach your target weight, what then?"

Well, once again I will give you a disclaimer so that I and Hubpages won't get sued: I am not a registered dietician. I am not a certified trainer. I am a regular guy who is telling you what has worked for me. So here it goes: How do we maintain our weight? Very easy: WE CHEAT!

That's right, you read that right: We CHEAT. We go on the diet from Monday to Friday morning. Then on Friday at lunch: we eat WHATEVER WE WANT! I love Friday's! I look forward to Friday's. This is the best part of a diet in my opinion: your cheat day. the only difference with me and my fiance is that we cheat ALL WEEKEND! Once Monday comes we get right back up on that KETO horse and do it all over again. Is it easy to do it all over again? Yes it is if you think of it as a lifestyle change like I do! Because like I told you before, if you think of it as a diet then it'll be the hardest thing for you to do. I used to have that problem I don't anymore and I'll tell you why.

First of all, this Keto thing is very powerful. Remember when I told you that during the course of your Keto journey that your body switches from using sugar as a source for energy to burning your own fat? Well that is an amazingly powerful change, and the most powerful part about it in my experience is that if you don't turn that fat burning machine off, it will keep burning fat! Now normally that's a good thing. But most of us have a certain ideal weight that we want to get to and with Keto, you'll get there in no time! Now once you get there you have to cheat to turn it off. That's why I cheat on the weekend and get back up on the Keto horse during the week. The 1 or 2 pounds I gain on the weekend are quickly destroyed by the 3 or 4 I lose during the week!

Like I said before, just like any diet Keto works differently for everybody. For me it takes about 3 days for my body to make that switch from burning sugar as a fuel source to burning fat. It might take you longer. It might happen faster. You won't know how long it'll take for your particular body to switch until you try it. It takes me about 3 days. So by the time Wednesday arrives, my body has switched.

How do I know that my body has switched? I know because I'll be hot. I'll have an elevated temperature. I'll wake up on Wednesday morning and my pillow will be wet because I have been sweating all night. Some people might refer to it as the "Meat Sweats" Whatever it is, that's when I start to lose the weight. What exactly do I do to get my body to make the switch? Like I told you before:

No bread. No sugar. No pasta.

Another thing that you have to do that I didn't mention in my previous article is to make sure that you take a potassium supplement. Why? Because when you're on this diet and starving your body of sugar, you're inadvertently starving it of potassium as well. Because of this on very rare occasions you will get cramps. Your muscles will lock up on you. Don't worry, a simple over the counter potassium pill will take care of it. Or you can eat half a banana. Bananas are high in potassium. Anyway, I know your next question: what fruits can I eat on the Keto diet? That's a whole article in itself and I won't tackle that question in this one.

But I will tell you this: The title of this article is "...where I am now". I am in a good space. I lose weight during the week and cheat on the weekend and I love it I look forward to the weekend like never before! As a species you have to find something to look forward to, and I look forward to the weekend. It gives my mission purpose. The problem with some of these diets is that they're no fun. There's no variety...and because of that a lot of people lose focus. just ask yourself this question: If you could cheat on the weekends, EVERY WEEKEND, and still lose weight, would you do it?

If you could cheat every weekend on your diet and still lose weight, would you?
