Midday Snacking... Tips for Success

Updated on January 7, 2015

Cravings...Be A Winner

So many times between meals our bodies need to have that extra bit of energy and nutrition to tie us over and to keep going. This leads to cravings, which are sometimes insatiable, and need to be satisfied immediately.

When these cravings arise, time and convenience are not always our best friends when it comes to find ways to satisfy that snack craving. This often leads to us going to some nearby location where we get that fast easy food, which is easy and hassle free to get BUT is not going to help the metabolism situation…in fact it’s going to do a lot of damage.

Understanding of Metabolism

As our understanding of metabolism grows we will understand that our body’s burn energy and what we feed our bodies will either stimulate the energy burn or slow it down. So to foster a positive metabolism system and increase our body’s ability to burn energy we need to be eating the right foods!

Preparation Is Everything

Always be prepared! As we all will inevitably need something on the run throughout our day, make sure you have prepared something to carry with you or identified a local food place that serves a healthy choice of meal options.

Some valuable options can include a bag of healthy snacks, some fruit or nuts, pre pared sandwiches with nutritious fillings on wholesome bread, or even running to the fruit and veg aisle at our local grocer when times allow. Either way we want to be making choices that work with you not against you!

Being prepared allows you to reach, eat and go without having to hesitate with a guilt complex or run around wondering where the best place to get a snack is.

Snacking Suggestions

Some items I like to carry with me are a bag of almonds, an awesome wonder food that is tasty, convenient and doesn’t take up a lot of space. Besides being a fantastic metabolism booster that also is very filling so you don’t need to eat a lot to stop that crave.

If you are fortunate to work in an environment that has a refrigerator keep a tub of berries handy, that way you are popping juicy and tasty berries as opposed to juicy and fattening fast food.

Fruit, fruit and more fruit. Carry a few pieces of fruit (preferably citrus) around with you. This is easy, hassle free and has an immense impact on your entire body including your metabolism system.

Essentially what we have to look at doing is creating convenience but mixing that with the necessary amount of discipline so our good habits lead to more good habits.

Using your meal planner is a fundamental resource to help along with this.
