Documenting My First Pregnancy:

A great way to document a pregnancy is to keep a journal. I was actually lucky enough to have a good friend of mine that I worked with at the time buy me a pregnancy journal to fill in all my thoughts over the course of 9 months of my first pregnancy.

I am going to begin this chapter with writing down my friend's note at the beginning of the journal and document my answers to the 'about this pregnancy' section of my journal. Each subsequent article will chronicle my pregnancy month by month.

Letter Written to Me, Kevin and Our Unborn Child:

(First and foremost, here is the letter that was written by my friend to me, my husband, and my unborn baby to be that she enclosed in the front cover of my journal):

I am so excited for you and your growing family. So many wonderful adventures are in store for you. Enjoy them all! I loved this book when I was waiting for my little man to arrive. I hope you too find the same enjoyment as I did as you wait for your own little one. Best wishes and lots of love!!!

My Pregnancy Journal (November 2008)--Chapter One:

About My Pregnancy:

1. Was your pregnancy planned or a surprise?

This pregnancy was totally planned and wanted right from the beginning.

2. When did you think about having this baby?

Spring/Early Summer 2008, your father and I decided we were ready to have you.

3. When did you first suspect that you were pregnant?

Beginning of November. I actually craved the cherry tomatoes as I was preparing a tomato and fresh mozzarella salad for your father and I. I usually want the mozzarella, because I love cheese period and can take or leave the tomato, but for some reason I couldn't stop picking at the tomatoes and the rest is now history!

4. When your pregnancy was confirmed, how did you react?

I was so very happy and over the moon excited. I was also a bit in shock that we were finally really going to have a baby.

5. How long did it take to become pregnant? Did it seem quick or slow?

Seemed slow, but really was only a few short months. I actually wrote a whole hub article on my conception story.

6. What is the best thing about being pregnant?

Knowing that there is another living, human being inside of me that is depending on me for everything.

7. Who was the first to know that you were pregnant and what was their reaction?

Kevin (your father) was the first to know. I took the pregnancy test first thing on Veteran's Day morning (we both had off) and as soon as the double line appeared I shared the results and we were both so ecstatic.

8. What was the first thing you specifically bought for this baby?

The very first thing I bought was package of pink onsies once I knew we were having a girl. I just couldn't resist the color pink once it was indeed confirmed. Your father actually said and I quote, "Well I guess now I am going to have to love the color pink!"

9. Have you picked any names? What would you consider? (These were what we discussed before we knew whether it was a boy or girl).

Emma Grace

Kailey Ann

Aiden John

Colin Thomas

10. Are there any names to which you would say, "Absolutely not!"?

I'm sure there are, but we already know the names which we do indeed like so this really is a non-issue.

11. Do you want to know as soon as you can if it's a girl or a boy? Why or why not?

Yes I do and cannot wait!! Seriously, the day I was to find out we had a huge snow storm in NY and of course my appointment got cancelled and rescheduled for later that week. True story and only this would happen to me, the person who was dying to know whether I was carrying a boy or a girl from pretty much the moment I found out I was pregnant!

12. What facial and physical characteristics do you want your baby to inherit?

Kevin's red hair and his amazing blue eyes. At my bridal shower Kevin's aunt gave me a framed picture of Kevin sweeping as a little boy, he was absolutely adorable with red hair, freckles and the most beautiful blue eyes. It was this picture that I carried around in my head hoping that my unborn child would resemble and take after.

13. Whose emotional and personality characteristics do you want your baby to inherit?

I am hopeful that he/she will be just as kind, generous and thoughtful as their father, Kevin has always been.

Concluding Chapter One:

I do hope you enjoyed the first chapter in the pregnancy journal that had wrote and kept during my very, first pregnancy and hope you will come back to read the next installment, which is coming soon.
