How to overcome negative feelings? Fight against it!

Updated on September 23, 2014

‘Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation’ Michael Jordan.

There are times when you feel pressed down by work related problems, family issues or relationship difficulties. Modern life is a rat race and you have to be on your toes to keep pace with others.

But the fact remains that not all are equipped with intelligence and talent to climb up the ladder of success. But does this mean you are born to be defeated? Not at all! When you feel that you are destined to fail, you can never rise above the ordinary. You have to struggle hard to stay in the race. You should not let yourself become static and stagnant by being inactive and mediocre.

Negative feelings make you have a low opinion about yourself. When you are negative by nature, you do not have positive thoughts to improve your work and be successful. Your mind keeps drumming the message that you will not succeed. Your negative nature accepts the message as truth. Now your actions become lukewarm and half hearted to prove that your negative thoughts were right.

Are you overawed by the success of your friends\relatives\colleagues? Do you feel that luck has graced them whereas it has let you in the lurch? How wrong you are! The secret behind every successful people is their positive attitude. They never gave up! They never stopped trying!

When you think you can be successful at your first attempt you will be proved wrong. Failures and defeats convey the message that you are doing your work the wrong way. If you let your life drift along you accept your non performance and settle down to a worthless life of mere survival.

Negative thoughts always tell your mind ‘you do not have the capacity to do it’. Surprisingly you accept it and feel that you can never be a great success. Your negative mind also insists ‘do not take risks’. Sadly you do not take risks.

Unless you are daring to take risks you cannot succeed. Negative thoughts are like muddy soil as your mind gets muddier when you keep thinking of pessimistic things. Your negative nature makes mediocrity its comfort zone and you just plough through your life in drudgery. You slog for your existence and not for your achievement.

What are the signs of your negative attitude?

  • Your negative attitude makes you averse to interact with people.
  • You become tongue tied when you are in a crowd.
  • You have a very low opinion about yourself.
  • You always think of failures and defeat.
  • You do not improvise your work.
  • You do not act positively.
  • You are always gloomy and pessimistic.
  • You easily buckle under pressure.

Do you know you have immense skill and talent? It is sad that your negative mindset makes you develop a mental blockage wherein your brain and intelligence refuses to work. Each and every problem you face becomes a hurdle to you.

You cannot enjoy your life if you are negatively prone. You should have a good opinion about yourself. You should think that you are worthy and valuable. You should appreciate yourself.

When you are dragged down by negative thoughts you will not act positively. Do not ever bow down to your pessimistic thoughts. In fact you should fight against it and feed positive thoughts into your mind to succeed in life.

Unless you try you will not realize your talent. Without hard work you cannot achieve triumph. When you keep trying with positive mentality you find that success is just round the corner. But if you give in to your negative attitude you can at best become a spectator to the success of others.

You are ready to watch others climbing the pedestal of success. Why don’t you give yourself a pep talk to make you take a step towards your success? It is the initial step that is very taxing and nerve wracking. Your first positive step towards your victory leads to another one till you leap towards your success.

Negative thoughts are like cancer which eats your potential. It kills your happiness and destroys your self -esteem. If you want to be successful, you should be prepared to take risks. You should fight against odds and keep on improvising. When you feed positive thoughts into your mind, the success which eluded you will eventually knock at your doorstep.
