Hangover Poem: Queasy Headed Morning

Emotional napalm

Exploding me awake

Can’t quite remember

Wish I could forget

 Jangly nerves twitch

With too much caffeine

Acidic from last night’s

Liquid supper

You could light my breath

With a match

 How did Happy Hour

Become closing time --- again?

Vague recollection

Said something, set him off

So stupid

“Flirting is in the eye of the beholder

I was just being friendly

Don’t be so controlling

Don’t tell me what to do

Why don’t you leave, and take your new boyfriend with you

Fine, I’ll just do that

Go eff yourself

No, eff YOU”

Drunken diatribes

Always end up ugly

I never learn

Another Alka Seltzer Saturday

The headache will fade

But my pride hurts like hell

It seems so innocent at the time

But the next day....

Have a Hangover ?

Have you ever had a morning like this?

Always a convenient excuse. Even without drinking, it's still possible to have "emotional hangovers" did you know that? Good to see you, friend! MM

But we can always blame it on the alcohol, can't we? :D

LOL.There is no GOOD answer to "why did I do that to myself?" Because it seemed like a great idea at the time and when you are in that party zone tomorrow seems a lonnnnng way away.

      Thanks for the comment.

And then you have to ask yourself...why?? Why did I do that to myself. GREAT Poem!

Nancy's Niche, I am glad you got through your sick hangover and that you kept your promise to God! How many of us have made and broke that same promise to God over and over before finally giving up the booze for good. Some people are never able to. Thanks for commenting! MM

Boy, can I relate to this...Years ago, my last, was my last! I was so sick I promised God that if he let me live through it I would never get drunk again and I haven't!

rednckwmn -- Yep. Wise decision. I'm cringing at just the idea of going to a club with his boss. My imagination takes me right there. Hope he didn't get fired!

Wesleycox -- I was going to say something really snotty to you like "I used to like you but now I hate you." But I don't really. That is really great for you! I hope you continue to have the hangover prevention superpower as well. It may mean you are NOT allergic to alcohol and are thus not headed down the road to becoming an alcoholic.

Which would be good news for you!

Fortunately I have been blessed with a hangover prevention superpower. I can drink all night long and wake up six or even four hours later without the slightest hint of hangover...save for a slight head "twinge" or slight sensitivity to light. I hope I continue to have this ability as time goes on.

This is why, I have never once been in a bar with my husband. We did go to a club, once, with his boss....lets just say..it wasn't good. We do all our drinking at home now. :)

advisor4qb -- oh, i've had that same night repeatedly over and over and over. but not recently. i haven't had a hangover in 5.5 years. recovery will do that to ya!

      kimberly -- amen sister.

shamelabboush -- most of my mornings used to be like that. no more. hope alcohol doesn't turn on you, my friend. you are too precious.

brenda -- interesting point. with our hp community we now know people who are experiencing hangovers in countries around the globe. at any given time, any one of us (except of course for those who have gotten into recovery) could be having this kind of awful morning. luckily we have friends like jj (pachuca) to offer remedies!

maggs -- thank you. could not agree more. when you repeat that scenario week in and week out for years -- that's a lot of damage! no more for me, thank God.

jj -- if you say so:-). my hubby does like tomato beers tho.

lol....girl well Pozole is the better soup (its menudo without the tripe) and has pork or chicken instead...and the clamato (just a dash) in a beer will rid you of a sour stomach and the headache that is associated with hangovers....it really does work. =) Sorry to make you want to hurl!

Most of my mornings are like this :) This poem is full of gems like:

      You could light my breath

      With a match

      or like:

“Flirting is in the eye of the beholder

      Like it.

Well gosh, gunshygal. That will be fun to read. Can't wait! And thanks for the vote of confidence.

elisabeth, LOL. Anyone who's ever had a hangover knows the risks when they go out the next time. I honestly don't think posting this in a bar (maybe inside the bathroom stall in the women's room, tho!) would have any effect on people who are hell-bent on tieing one on!

Divinemercylover -- some of my favorite people, on HP and off, gave it up and now live much more sane and satisfying lives!

JJ -- OMG. You must be some loco in the cabeza (sp?) chiquita. Menudo? Forgedaboutit! Clamato? What is that -- supposed to make me hurl? No thanks, but thanks for the kind suggestion. MM

I loved this chica!!! I know the feeling of the day after drinking....A good remedy : Bowl of Pozole or Menudo with a bit of lime or you could crack open a cerveza and add some Clamato to it....no more headaches, I promise!

Emotional Napalm...I really liked that description of a night as such. I've had many but gave that all up about 15 yeaqrs ago. My idea for a good night now is to sit with my wife after a hard day at work and talk about her day. I like your ads on your hub....really neat, keep up this good wok MM. Kindest Regards.

Pam and Dohn -- not sure how you managed to sneak on here to comment. I was editing to add in the two videos.

Yes, "almost forgot" is good. Not good to forget completely.

Dohn -- Never too late for apologies. This is just one experience recollected from many many others, many, many moons ago! Thanks for visiting. MM
