Starting the Anabolic Diet - Gain Muscle without the Fat

Updated on July 5, 2009

I didn't find anything on hubpages discussing the anabolic diet so I thought I would share my experiences with you as I'm currently using it to shed some fat and pack on some muscle.

I will basically go through what the anabolic diet involves and the benefits you will see from this style of diet.

So I started on the Anabolic diet and the diet is very similar to the Metabolic Diet which was created by the same author/doctor Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale.

The basic concept behind the anabolic diet is to eat high fat / high protein / low carbs ( less than 30g of carbs which mostly come from vegetable sources) for 12 days.

On the 13th day you will then eat high carbohydrates with moderate fat and low protein for 12 - 48 hours.

After that you the aim is to cycle 5 days " ON " and 1 -2 days "OFF "

ON CYCLE

- High Fat / High Protein / Low Carb

OFF CYCLE

- High Carb / Moderate Fat / Low protein

This is just an introductory hub but there are ways you are allowed to alter the diet a bit if the main guidelines dont work well for certain individuals.

The Fat / Protein calorie ratio is somwhere around 60 / 40. The diet is very protein sparing so you could drop that figure to as low as 65 / 35 but at the moment I am aiming for around 60 / 40 as a good starting point.

On the weekends, the fat/protein/carb CALORIE ratio looks something like 30/60/10.

The reason I express calorie ratio is because a gram of fat has 9 calories while protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram.  The doctor has hundreds, if not over 1,000 references, on why this diet works. He believes that this diet isn't for everyone, but will work for the majority of people.

thats it for the intro to the anabolic diet, will post a new hub on how I think the diet is going in a few months time. Take it easy all:)

update: been going for quite some time now the low carb days are tough but i'm seeing some weight loss already which is great these anabolic diets are tough :). holding out for the carb days.
