The Law of Attraction and You: Gratitude

What is Gratitude:

Gratitude is the feeling of being thankful or grateful for something you have or have been given. It is appreciation.

Gratitude is a positive feeling of acceptance, joy, and love.

When you are grateful for something you cherish it, respect it, and truly feel blessed for having it in your life.

Why is it important:

When you study the law of attraction you learn that like attracts like. The more good feelings you have, the more events take place in your life to support those good feelings and bring even more of them to you.

Feeling grateful has been said to be the most effective way to bring positive things, events, and feelings into your life. Because it is such a powerful feeling it pulls that much more positive energy in your direction.

It is impossible to have a negative feeling at the same time as you have a positive one. The more you look around and find things to be grateful for, the better you will feel, the more good you bring into your life. That is why it is so important, because it keeps you in a positive mindset.

Taking things for granted:

When we take things for granted, and we all do, we tell the universe that we don't appreciate them. Whether it is a negative or neutral feeling, it certainly isn't a positive one.

How do you feel when you are taken for granted? Pretty crummy right? You aren't going to be motivated or driven to keep doing the things that no one seems to notice, appreciate, or thank you for. Even a simple "thank you" is enough sometimes when we do nice things for others. It is the same way with the energy of the universe which dictates the law of attraction.

In order to bring more into your life through the law of attraction you must be grateful for what you already have. This tells the universal energy that you appreciate it, you respect it, you love it, and you feel blessed for having it. It is your way of saying "thank you" to the universe so that the universe is more motivated to give you even more.

I don't have much, what is there to be grateful for?

Oh, come on now. If you stop to think about it I'm sure you can come up with an entire book full of things you can be grateful for. Most of the things we need to be appreciating are the things we have been taking for granted so long we don't even realize what a blessing they truly are!

  • Your health, your senses, your brain, your entire body
  • A roof over your head, food to eat, a bed to sleep in
  • Friends, family, people who love and care for you
  • Technology, vehicles, communication, education, information
  • Nature, water, trees, birds, flowers, grass, mountains, scenic views

Start big and go small or start small and go big, the choice is yours. There are millions of things to be thankful for in your life. All you need to do is look around.

Change your way of thinking:

If there is something that you find yourself struggling with, say you want more money yet you can't seem to be grateful for something you don't have or don't have enough of; or maybe you want to have a loving relationship but you're single and alone with no prospects.

It can be difficult to change your way of thinking, especially when you've been looking at it in a negative way for so long. Here are a few helpful tips to get you going in the right direction:

Unemployed: I am grateful to the opportunity to get to know myself better and to have more time to get things done that I have put off in the past. I am grateful for the freedom to explore all of the different job opportunities out there for me so that I can find one that I love and is just right for me.

In debt: I am grateful for the patients and understanding of the utility companies for extending their services to me. I am grateful for this lesson in humility. I am grateful for the challenge in math and budgeting that gives me an even better understanding of how many things I have been blessed with in my life.

Wanting a relationship: I am grateful for this time to explore myself so that when I find my perfect mate I will know that they are the one for me. I am grateful for my independence. I am grateful for the love and support of my family and friends.

Whatever the case may be, there is always a way to turn it around into positive thinking. Will Smith gave an interview one time where he said he finally understood how death could be considered a blessing. It isn't a straight line of birth, life, death. It is a circle of birth, life, death, rebirth. So when someone or something dies in your life you can ask yourself "what is the rebirth that God has in store for me?"

Final Thoughts:

Wake each day and count your blessings. You will find that there are more blessings to be found as your day goes on.

The more blessings you count, the better you feel.

The better you feel the more positive energy you give out.

The more positive energy you give out, the more positive energy returns to you.

The more positive energy returns to you, the more things you have to be grateful for & the more blessings you have to count!
