Updated on January 25, 2012

P90X is an extreme 90 day fitness program to get you into the best shape of your life. Tony Horton has designed 12 DVD's to shape and sculpt your body into nothing you've ever seen before. So get up, get ready, and get moving while Tony guides you through every exercise. You'll need a small space, resistance bands, weights, or both, and a go getter attitude. In this hub, i'll explain each of the DVD's, giving a little of my input in each one, then reviewing P90X at the end as a whole.

Chest & Back

Chest & Back

Chest and back is the first of the workouts you will do. As was stated above, P90X requires you have resistance bands and some free weights at your disposal. With chest and back, you will be using your resistance bands or weights to sculpt those chest and back muscles. Tony is there to help and guide you through each move, providing alternate forms of that move with his exercise buddies showing you the way to do it. Get ready to push yourself to the extreme with this DVD.

Plyometrics

Plyometrics

This form of Plyometrics is unlike anything you've ever done. Tony has you jumping back and forth, up and down, and side to side with each move, working all of your muscles. Get ready to sweat because you definitely will during this DVD! It's not as bad as it seems though, he gives you a little rest inbetween!

Shoulders & Arms

Shoulders & Arms

As Tony puts it, these are "the glamour muscles." They are the muscles you see when you are wearing a tank top. He has you do different exercises to strengthen your shoulders and arms. The shoulders are the link to everything else in your arm, so by strengthening them, you are able to do more.

Yoga X

Yoga X

Yoga X is all about doing Yoga. There's no way around it. This however was probably my least favorite DVD. It's over an hour long and I hate yoga! I need to be up and moving around and yoga doesn't do it for me. Those of you who like yoga, you'll be in your glory! And those of you who think you don't like it, at least give it a shot. I tried it 3 times and just couldn't get into it.

Legs & Back

Legs & Back

Legs and back is a great workout for you to learn to like. You'll notice your legs becoming stronger and your back becoming even stronger than that. You work your back in 2 different DVD's so you should see your back becoming the strongest the quickest. Get ready to work those legs though, because even though it's paired with the back exercises, Tony manages to have you "feel the burn."

Kenpo X

Kenpo X

You'll quickly discover that this is Tony's favorite DVD, as well as mine. Kenpo X is all about punching, jabbing, kicking, and moving. Get your heart rate up and moving as he has your doing up to 4 moves at once! This is definitely a fun day, and the time flies by so that makes it even better!

X Stretch

X Stretch

This DVD is for your days off, and can even be used in addition to your daily workouts. It's designed to lengthen the muscles and make you more flexible, in turn allowing you to do more with P90X. So take the day and get stretching!

Core Synergistics

Core Synergistics

Don't be scared when you hear the word "core." Core synergistics works many different muscle groups in addition to working your core at the same time. I'm not going to lie, it's kind of tough. Stick with it though to get that great body you're striving for!

Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps
Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps | Source

Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps

This workout works all three muscle groups simultaneously. You use the resistance bands and the free weights to sculpt the chest, shoulders, and triceps. The exercises should be familiar to you, because they are everyday exercises!

Back & Biceps

Back & Biceps

Back and biceps works those muscles to the max. You will do pretty much the same back exercises as in the Chest & Back DVD, but new bicep exercises. Work hard, because soon you'll be showing off those big muscles!

Cardio X

Cardio X

Get ready to get your heart rate up and start sweating, cardio X is for the cardio lover everywhere. This was one of my favorites because cardio is my thing. It was a nice beak from the weights.

Ab Ripper X

Ab Ripper X

The ab ripper is an intense ab routine that has you doing over 300 moves. It targets upper abs, lower abs, obliques, and everything in between. You'll definitely need to work up the ability to do all of these moves, but even so, you'll see some really ripped abs!

Overall, P90X was a great 90 day fitness program to endure. I liked the different array of exercises that mixed cardio and lifting. I can honestly say that I was the strongest that i've ever been after completing the 90 day program. I even got compliments from others that I was very strong. I didn't like that the workouts were an hour a day, some longer. I'm very busy and to devote over an hour to a workout was hard. I also didn't like the down time in the video. I like to do things quickly. I did some of the workouts on my own without the video sometimes, and was done in around 40 minutes. I probably burned more calories too because my heart rate went higher from moving so quickly. The final thing I didn't like was that you needed to go buy either weights or bands in addition to the DVD's. I didn't buy any of the recovery drinks or protein formulas because I found that I could get the same thing at a cheaper cost somewhere else. Still, I would recommend P90X to anyone willing to get into better shape. It will definitely transform you! Good luck!
