Top 10 Weird but Effective Weight Loss Tips

Updated on May 16, 2014

Everyone wants to look good. However, only a few would seriously do something about it, and sadly I wasn’t one of them a few years ago. My weight was way past the boundary considering my age and height yet there seemed to be a huge wall stopping me from doing something about it. And yes, I was guilty of treating weight loss as a new year’s resolution and eventually gave up even just after few weeks.

It was only when I found the right set of motivations that I started noticing progress. It was not simply weight loss but self-renewal. Now, I’m perfectly in shape, and an active participant of yearly 5-10k marathons. So don’t think about giving up. The road may be filled with obstacles and bumps but keep in mind that you have everything you need to overcome them; you just have to discover the right set of inspirations and techniques. If you are clueless as to where to start, check out this list of the Top 10 Weird but Effective Weight Loss Tips.

I really hope at least one of these tips can be the small spark that you need in achieving the healthy body you have long desired. Good luck and keep moving!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Studies confirm that heavy meals during breakfast can help avoid hunger in between meals. And as we all know, getting rid of cravings is a crucial part in losing weight. The rule is simple. If you are dying to eat the mouthwatering brownie your sweet neighbor made for you, do it in the morning. You’ll fully enjoy the brownie this way as it eliminates the guilt knowing that the added carbohydrates won’t hurt your diet but might even make it more effective.

The aroma from vanilla scented candles is known to suppress cravings particularly towards sweets. We should all remember that too much sugar in a diet is one of the most common culprits of weight gain. The best part about this idea is that it doesn’t only help you achieve a fit body but can also turn your home into a personal relaxation chamber. With its anti-craving effect and stress-relieving property, vanilla-scented candles are definitely must haves for everyone who wants to start a healthier lifestyle.

Do you find it hard to control how much you eat every meal? Don’t be ashamed. It may be very challenging at first but it’s doable. Find a way to remind yourself about your goals and why you even thought about starting a better eating habit. Installing a huge mirror in the dining room might do the trick. Seeing your fat self while eating so much might be enough to stop you from having another serving.

We often eat unhealthy foods when we are stressed this is why overeating in a workplace is a common scenario. Unhealthy foods are often delicious and tempting. You can’t do something about his matter. However, you can avoid the things that trigger you to grab these snacks. Several studies support that having a clean and tidy workplace lessens the possibility of overeating in the workplace by a significant percent. It’s a win-win situation. Doing so will not only lead you a step closer towards a healthy lifestyle but can also increase your work productivity.

Enough sleep is a very important part of the weight loss formula. Your aim must be to have a sound sleep for at least eight hours a day. Conditioning is the key in achieving this goal. Work out in the morning and tire yourself as much as possible so sleeping won’t be a problem later on. Making your room and bed accommodating for sleep is also a great idea. It’s easier to sleep if the temperature is low so cool down your room and let the relaxing breeze take you to dreamland.

Losing weight doesn’t mean you should avoid going out with your friends or family. Don’t let it ruin your social life. There’s no need to worry a lot about eating out since it’s not a problem to begin with. All you need to do is pick the right place to eat. Choose a restaurant that serves satisfying but healthy dishes. Paying with cash can also help control how much you eat while dining out. You have no choice but to forget about ordering another slice of pizza if you can’t afford it.

Probably one of the weird but effective weight loss tips that I can hardly believe is changing the color of your plate. A friend once told me that it helped him lose weight but I was very skeptical back then until I tried it out. Avoid red and yellow plates since they are often used in restaurants and can positively affect your appetite. Settle with a dark blue or black plate and be amazed of the results like what it did to me.

Peppermint in various forms can help you lose weight. Sipping a cup of peppermint tea a day can greatly improve your digestion thus allowing you to burn more calories. Inhaling peppermint oil is proven effective in suppressing appetite. You’ll also enjoy its other benefits like improved mental alertness and focus. So don’t think twice about investing for both peppermint tea and oil since they might be the weight loss solutions you have long been searching for.

Chocolates are often frowned upon by health-conscious individuals. But what they fail to consider is that a certain type of chocolate can actually help anyone in ripping off excess body fat. I am referring to none other than mouthwatering black chocolates. The science behind this weird phenomenon is that black chocolates have less sugar content and have a bitter sweet taste which reduces the amount you eat. It is an effective way to avoid sugar spikes and in decreasing the metabolic effects of stress.

It may sound crazy but eating more is a great start for your weight loss endeavors. Nonetheless, I’m not telling you to feast in every meal. The trick is to eat at least six times a day and choosing foods that are packed with fiber, lean protein, and other nutrients. Control your servings and stop when your body tells you to. As much as possible, avoid foods with refined carbohydrates and processed ingredients since they can introduce a lot of calories in your system without providing even half the energy you can get from healthier options.
