Perhaps. We could either be a pawn in life's game, moved, used, manipulated and sacrificed. Or we could be fixed in our outlook like a rook, knight, bishop plotting specific courses but rarely flexible. We could be like the queen, versatile, adaptable, powerful. Or be the king, rarely moving, powerful by surrounding ourselves with people who will do everything for us out of dedication and devotion.
Life , however, is hardly a chequered board of 64 squares. The player may know many moves but is limited or enabled by the other players actions. Life is a game - some plans are essential, a goal is always useful, and having enough strategies to cope with a variety of situations is what makes us a grandmaster. That and the ability to be unperturbed, unflappable yet passionate for the game!
