I've tried acupuncture and in the hands of someone who knows what Chinese medicine is/can do,acupuncture is a powerful tool. There are things it can't do, but it can do lots.
As far as I understand, there are energy paths, I think they're called meridians, in the body. They become blocked and this is where acupuncture UNBLOCKS those meridians.. That might be incorrect, but that is my rudimentary understanding. Doctors of Eastern medicine who know and have studied their craft are not respected like they ought to be, but they can rise to high places.
I am a Registered Nurse and there are more practitioners of traditional western medicine who have tried this age old (several thousand years) medicine and admit success.
It has been documented and is effective that acupuncture has a place in preventing adhesions after abdominal surgery.
