    What is the difference between high fructose corn syrup and just plain corn syrup.

    Fructose is sugar that is derived from fruits, and then its cooked and reduced to a syrup. Corn syrup is sugar from corn, it is also cooked and reduced to a syrup.  Sugar is in just about everything, (anything with "-ose" at the end of a word, especially in the ingredient listing of a processed item.  FYI-our bodies does not care where or what the sugar is made from.  Sugar is sugar. The body uses sugar, white sugar, fruit sugar, honey, milk sugar, what ever....it is just sugar. Hope this helps. Waves!

      Yes and they give you that in the hospital too as in a fluid they put in your body that ends in -ose.  Thanks for that answer.

      (Nodding in agreement) yes, in the IV solutions  dextrose is used, usually mixed with normal saline, or a salt water solution. And you are very welcome! Waves!

      So when a label says high fructose corn syrup it's the same as just plain corn syrup?

      They are very close because the base of both syrups is sugar extracted from corn. The sugar from fruits (fructose) is added, and for no other reason other than saving money.
