What was your worst nightmare?
How did you feel after waking up? Did you dream it only once or was the dream repeated?
My worst nightmare I had about 4 or 5 years ago. It was so real looking and feeling that I still remember it clearly to this day.
I was driving a car up to a gas station on the side of the road in the middle of no where. I was with someone, but I don't know who it was.
I walked into the gas station to get supplies like water, food, matches and such. I was in line at the till watching the news broadcast in the TV behind the cashier. All of a sudden the news room on the TV went into a panic saying they dropped it, they dropped it. I looked out the large windows in the gas station and saw something falling. It looked almost like a grain of rice because of the distance.
Everyone in the gas station all huddled together in silence, just sort of apprichiating for that minute they weren't alone.
I saw the wave of fire coming toward us, and when it hit, it felt like it squeezed all the air out of your chest and before I had a chance to feel anything else I woke up. It felt like my skin was on fire, I was pouring in sweat, my heart was racing, and my chest hurt like I just got winded.
I don't know if it would be classed as a nightmare or what, and it only happened the one time. I've never forgotten it, and I don't think I ever will.
I actually wrote a flash fiction story called White Hot Nightmare that was based on my worst nightmare. I had this nightmare when I was in junior high school during the 80s;. At the time, the big fear was the bomb (which unfortunately, is making a big comeback these days). Anyway, in the dream I was running around my junior high school's playground when the sirens went off. All of us ran, but there was nowhere to hide. The ICBM exploded over the school, consuming me in its nuclear flames.
I felt a sense of burning, but, strangely enough emerging from it and finding myself in a burnout and desolate area. I can't remember what condition I was in after the dream. I think I blew a sigh of relief.
Luckily, I never had a repeat of that dream.Still, it's very memorable, even after it happened more than 30 years ago.
Wow. Did you ever find out why you had that dream? Some fear, event, ...? Thank you for sharing!
The mid 80s was a very paranoid time. I remember that there were magazines such as Survivalist -- dedicated to surviving a Nuclear war on the newstand at the local supermarket. Also there were movies (The Day After) that reinforced this fear.
Oh, ok, understand. Mighty messages for a boy in those days. Needed to process somehow. Thanx again!
I have two reoccurring dreams with a likeness. One I am falling and never hit the ground. The other I am flying, but cannot land. With both the settings will change and at times people or animals are introduced like flying with birds. Common to me is I am in the air and there is free fall. Some I begin with falling, but wind up flying while still unable to land. All of them have an initial cause; pushed, jumped, and etc.
When I awake I am distressed. Sometimes I can actually force myself to wake and get out of the dream. That is more distressful. Sometimes I will sit up for hours after trying to remember the details and make sense of it all with a cup'pa tea or pot of coffee. At times I giggle because I will realize I am in a sense free falling doing that process and never arrive at conclusion or land.
The only conclusion I can make it may mean indecisiveness of some issue or cannot come up with a solution to a problem. That is where those cups of tea or coffee come in with wandering and pondering. What is the issue in my life or the problem.

Would you choose Hell or your worst nightmare? As in, would you choose to live in the Hell of the Bible, Quran, and even Buddhist texts (all seven of them), or live your worst nightmare for all eternity? If there were no third option.
