help - am I going deaf?
I'm so scared that I'm going deaf!
About 6 weeks ago I had terrible discomfort in my right ear and since I was flying over to the UK from Spain a few days later, I decided to go to the emergency clinic. They prescribed anti-biotic ear drops and I flew with no problem.
I saw the GP in UK last Thursday as I was still having problem hearing in my right ear - she said I probably had a perforated ear-drum(!) & prescribed oral anti-biotics.
Now today I am having pain and loss of hearing in my left ear!!!
I don't want to go deaf (I'm grumpy enough as is is without that) - any advice?
You need to go back to a Doctor for further tests. The last Doctor you saw said you "Probably had a perforated ear drum" which is an assumption from the pain symptoms you advised of, but if you're worried, and the Anit-Biotics aren't working for you, get it checked out further.
thank you strictlydating for your for your reply - I woke up this morning to find blood on my pillow from that ear and am in more pain with it so I definitely will go back - why do these things always happen on Sundays?
generally a perforated eardrum will heal itself over a few months. make sure tht if it is perforated you be careful not to get your ear canal wet when having a shower or bath. should avoid swimming or at leat wear ear plugs. if it continues for longer than that consult an ear nose throat surgeon

I have tinnitus, which most nights causes sleep deprivation. I try to nap during the day to catch up on sleep. I rarely sleep more than two hours. This started about 6 months ago. My ear doctor recommended I get a sleep machine. Has anyone ever used a sleep machine to aid with ... uhmmm ... sleep?
