anything can be used as a focus in meditation, a matchbox, a piece of lapis lazuli, a lump of serpentine, you meditate with your mind, not the substance you're using as a focus. I suppose it is possible to use the noble nature of precious stones and metals to focus the mind on nobility, but remember, it is the mind, not the mineral that does the work.
