I think so. I know some old time professional painters - commercial painters, that are kinda' messed up now, and I believe it was from all the painting

It's fact, lead is harmful for our body. It affects our brain when we stay in a room that's painted with something containing lead. Unleaded paints are widely available today, although a bit expensive. But in the long run you're the winner, you won't forget where you keep your wallet! lol

Lead containing paints can cause lead poisoning only if the lead enters the body. Skin contact as well as ingestion can do this as well as inhalation of paint fumes from wet paint or the dust from dry paint if it is sanded down.

Lead paint if dry, sound and not flaking will cause no harm. It is the application and removal processes that can cause a risk.
