Has anyone ever gotten off of Synthroid after taking it for hypothyroidism?
This will be very hard or impossible KimmiS.
If your thyroid gland is being treated with radioactive Iodine, you need to be with this supplemental therapy for life.
If your gland has nodules treated by surgery, you need to keep the therapy as long as your endocrinologist tells you to (or you will feel like a vegetable - tired, slow, clumsy etc.)
There are other pills out there, but you better speak with a specialist first.
There is also herbal ointment made from very young walnuts, but they only provide Iodine, you still need the hormone provided by the Synthroid.
