   Could yellow mucus be a sign of a head cold going away?
   
   i've been sick 4 the past 5 days, and I think its just a head cold because I dont have a cough, just a stuffy nose. When I started blowing my nose the 1st few days of being sick, the mucus was clear, now when I blow its yellow

   Yellow mucus is a sign that your body is fighting off something.  The mucus typically darkens over a few days time.  Then as the virus goes away, the mucus begins to get clear again. 
   
   If it doesn't get better or if it gets worse after a week or two, it may be an infection.  Then you would want to see a doctor.
   
   Otherwise, drink plenty of fluids like water and juice.  Get lots of rest.  If you need some medicine to help with the symptoms, ask your pharmacist what type of cold medicine he or she would recommend.

   When you have an infection mucus can change colour to yellow or green from trapped bacteriia or viral infection.  The doctor may give you something for it but if it is clear and it is a cold you have to fight it off yourself
   Get scared if it turns green or brown.
