How often are you around second hand smoke? Do you have concerns about 2nd hand smoke?
With my living situation, I am frequently around second hand smoke. As a smoker, I am aware of the hazard that I pose to others. I really wish that I could quit smoking, not only for my own health, but the health of others.
A tragic story I have to relay is about the death of my aunt Virginia. She never smoked a day in her life. Her husband was an avid pipe smoker. My aunt passed away from emphysema. That is a definite result of second hand smoke. My uncle had quit smoking twenty years before her death.
It is good for the smoker he has the cigarette filter but for a second hand smoker or a passive smoker is worse because he is inhaling the nicotine directly without being filtered. A second hand smoker can also be addicted to smoking and will experience the same physical damage as the smoker or even worse.
I know a little child whose mother is a chain smoker, everyday the child cries only for the mother to blow the smoke on her face then she stops crying. It does show that the child is addicted to the smoke.
Both the mother and the child are always coughing.
i'm a smoker so i not only get 2nd hand smoke but first hand too. i realize it isn't healthy but i enjoy smoking so i don't really care.
Thank you all for your comments and sharing your personal accounts of those affected by cigarette smoke and 2nd hand smoke. Wow, Hillymillydee, a child already addicted to smoke. It's always interesting to me what I learn from these discussions with my fellow hubbers. Again, I appreciate all of your comments.

What percentage of hubbers are smokers? The percentage seems quite high, though I am NOT a smoker. Writers are historically known to be smokers, e.g. Mark Twain whom I believe was a heavy smoker.

What do you think of the new Starbucks smoking ban?Starbucks has just ban smoking within 25 feet of all of their stores. This means no more enjoying a smoke with your coffee on the outdoor patio.

I see this all too much and it's been striking a chord recently within me. Do you see Parents or Adults in general smoking near their children or associated? Talk about extremely bad role modeling. Sometimes i feel like taking justice into my own hands but how can i they already have it in theirs.

A single diesel engine bus that spews out 70,000 tons of smog a year or a person smoking a cigarette?Second hand smoke is illegal to protect the children and non-smokers. The evil of smoking is not argued here: What I find is crazy is that I can't smoke and kill myself slowly outdoors withing 20...

Why are cigarettes so expensive now days? With the cost of gas prices going up to $3.75 per gallon and the shipping cost for postages on the rise, this explains a part in prices going up. However Marlboro is one of the companies that are producing a same quality of cigarette. Marlboro blacks seem...
