Legalization Of Marijuana

Updated on April 7, 2015

What is a weed, and is it useful?

"And to the man he said, "Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it." Genesis 3:17

According to Wikipedia, "A weed is a plant considered undesirable in a particular situation, "a plant in the wrong place".

It chokes and kills other plants, which is why they are commonly pulled. I do not believe there were weeds in the Garden Of Eden before the curse took place.

Can it be useful for medicine and healing? It is a natural possibility, amongst other cures. But this avenue needs much trial and isn't to be abused. Dandelion can also be useful and it is a weed; however, marijuana should be controlled like other drugs and classified, not for entertainment purposes.

Weed has evolved since days of old, and has been laced with different things and considered to be a catalyst in schizophrenia and other dementias, because it causes the brain networks to become un-orchestrated. It is an addictive substance and can cause major withdrawal effects that are hard on the body in long term use.

Tobacco

Tobacco is legalized, and look at what has happened to society. COPD, Lung Cancer, Oral Issues, It harms every organ in the body and causes more deaths than anything else in the United States. Why are we being so easy going about this? Is it because we all want that simple high? If you can't be happy in your current state perhaps that is signaling that we need to deal with root causes, and seek out help, not blind our minds with smoke.

I have personally tried Weed in my younger days, and I did not find it a pleasurable experience, not to say that some don’t get that pleasure; however, not everything that feels good, is. My mother died from alcohol poisoning a few years ago. Something you would never think would happen to you, over a simple drunken bit of fun which to most is a harmless fun thing to do. Overtime your body just can’t take being abused and shuts down. Moderation…fine. But anything that can cause an addiction, or death, isn't harmless.

Our lungs are simply not meant to be filled with smoke at any point in time. Nor is our liver meant to deal with being overloaded with alcohol.

Effects on the body

Research shows that as a stimulant weed increases our heartbeat and blood pressure, breathing... It can also stimulate the appetite,” munchies."

It causes your brain to slow down, impaired judgment and psychosis. This is similar to reactions from cocaine, amphetamines and some prescription meds.

Marijuana use can cause mood disorders such as anxiety, depression and can cause suicide. Long-term use can cause erectile dysfunction, decreased sperm count and hormonal imbalance. With the inhalation of smoke it can cause lung cancer as well.

When ingesting a brownie with pot in it, you may not notice the effects as quickly; it's more of a slow release.

To Smoke Or Not To Smoke

Do you believe pot is a safe choice, and should be legal just as tobacco?

Conclusion

People say all the time, that if God didn't intend for us to have it he would not have put it there. That we are insulting God's creation. But this world isn't perfect, far from it. And the ground is cursed as well as the multitude of diseases that we have in this world. Not everything in this world is good, but that of evil. We have free will to choose; however, to have discernment is key.

In my opinion I would not legalize marijuana freely, but I would accept that if it can be used for good, then it should be studied, tested, and classified under prescription drugs only for specific causes.

If we aren't happy in our natural state, and searching out substances to cope with our problems, or to cause us to become happier, then perhaps we need to find the root cause instead of masking it with a drug or substance. Amen?
