Life Is A Party!!

I love summer; summer fashion, summer food and most of all summer parties. Nothing beats a good old fashioned summer party by the beach. You can have it all; the sun, great food, refreshing drinks, the sea to go for a swim, mellow music to move your body under the effects of the soporific sun and of course you don’t even need to dress up or do your hair. Just pop into that tiny bikini and sandals and that’s you, ready for a day of fun.

Some of the best beach parties I have been to were in Spain. The South of Spain is absolutely great for these kind of parties; the weather is so hot, the beaches inviting and the people full of adrenalin with everybody hoping to have a great time.

Summer Parties In Spain

During the summer, which in Spain starts early and ends late, the beaches are the best venues for partying. You have it all there, showers, food, drinks, music, pretty people and some places like Bikini beach even have a “sun tan lotion boy” which is someone –usually very good looking- who goes around rubbing sun tan lotion to the ladies who request his services!

The parties start at around midday when the people start to arrive and take their places. A lounge bed like in Bikini beach or the extravagant King size mattresses with parasols that you can get at Nikki beach in Marbella. The day starts with an aperitif; a beer, a sangria or champagne to be followed by a late lunch of salads fish and seafood.

After lunch people calm down a bit and most retire to their loungers for a quick siesta. The afternoon starts soon and everybody is back full of energy dancing to live music or just admiring the dancers. The parties last until late night when people go back home for a shower and come back later to continue the party at the beach bars. This lasts until the early hours of the morning and it starts again next day at around midday.

What To Wear To A Beach Party

Dress Code for girls:

Bikinis for the girls with sandals, sunglasses and sometimes sun hats. To cover up –you don’t really need to- it is best to wear a transparent tunic or a fashionable sarong. Forget going around wrapped up in your hotel towel, that is a big NO, NO. Of course, if you look really hot on your bikini, skip the "cover up" bit and just flaunt it, after all is summer! Personally I take with me only my kitten heel sandals, sun protecting lotion and a big hat to protect my hair and face from the sun.

Dress Code for men: Sandals, beach wear, sun hats.

What to take with you to a beach party: Lots of suntan lotion, sunglasses, a hair protection lotion and a sun hat.

How To Get Invited To A Beach Party

Some beach parties are free to anyone who hires a lounger and buys drinks from the bar, as is the case of the parties at Bikini beach in Fuengirola, Spain.

Other places like Nikki Beach are more exclusive and you will need to reserve before going.

Some hotels will organize bikini parties all summer, and you will be automatically invited if you are staying in.

There is always the option of “grabbing” a piece of beach to have your private party, like the Spaniards do every 23rd of June at night to celebrate San Juan. This is a celebration where people gather along the shores of the sea, most of them bring along barbeques, drinks and music. At midnight everybody jumps over a bonfire and goes for a deep in the sea. The bonfire is supposed to purify the soul and the bath in the sea is to clean the body from all sins. It is a symbolic celebration but it is also a great occasion to have a night party with friends at the beach. Some districts even organize fireworks displays by the sea, it is a great celebration.
