Easter Treats for Kids at Heart

Updated on January 10, 2019

Easter treats for kids at heart

It is Easter time and the stores are filled to the rafters with chocolate confections in all shapes and sizes. Most of these treats are packaged to attract children hoping to get a visit from the Easter Bunny and a gift basket full of chocolate on Easter Sunday. But finding a chocolate treat that the kids at heart will enjoy just as much is not always easy in the sea of kid-targeted products. Have faith though, because there are a few products from well-known brands amongst the piles of grocery store chocolate that will appeal to the adults in your family. Everyone loves chocolate at this time of year and you don't need to raid your children's Easter baskets to get your fix! Here are four adult-friendly picks that are sure to please the kids at heart.

1. Lindt Gold Bunny

A staple of Easter baskets since 1952, the Lindt Gold Bunny comes in various sizes from just a bite to a life-sized rabbit replica. Under the golden foil and red ribbon is a smooth and creamy milk chocolate treat. The quality of the Lindt brand speaks for itself. Although more expensive than your average bunny, the extra cost is worth the extra quality. Be sure to save it for when you have some ‘me time’ so you can savour every bite.

2. The Rocher Bunny

Shaped like a bunny rabbit, the plastic tray packaging is filled with individual Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Creamy chocolate surrounding a hazelnut, in turn surrounded by a wafer layer which is covered in yet more chocolate and crushed hazelnuts, these rich chocolate nut treats are a big hit anytime of the year, but the bunny tray provides a good excuse to buy them at Easter, and keep them on a top shelf - out of reach for small hands - to enjoy throughout the month.

3. Hershey's Bliss Chocolate Bunny

Hershey's tops the list for chocolate on any occasion but their new line of Bliss chocolate products are geared more towards adults. The Bliss line is positioned as a mid-quality product.

For Easter, the Bliss chocolate bunny is a hollow of creamy smooth milk chocolate. Although not as rich and silky as Lindt chocolate, if you are looking for more affordable decadence, you won’t be disappointed. Not only are these bunnies tasty, they are also affordable.

4. Dove Dark Chocolate Eggs

Many adults prefer dark chocolate to the milk or white variety, not just for its health benefits but also for the more sophisticated and slightly bitter taste.

Dove’s Dark Chocolate Eggs are the perfect choice for grown-ups at Easter time. These silky smooth egg-shaped morsels melt in your mouth almost upon entry. The richness of the chocolate satisfies a sweet tooth quickly, so you only need to eat a few to get 100% enjoyment with only half of the guilt!

Like the Hershey's Bliss line of chocolates, the Dove chocolate eggs are a good value for a mid-quality chocolate. However, the price is also an indication that the percentage of cacao isn’t high enough to get as many of the health benefits as those high-priced organic varieties at Whole Foods.

Sweet on Easter

Easter time is always fun with small children - the egg hunts, the magic of Easter Sunday morning when the kids pop their heads awake to see what the Easter Bunny brought them, and the family time spent together enjoying the treats.

Even though the Easter Bunny is meant for children, these four chocolate suggestions which can be easily found at your local grocery store can satisfy your sweet tooth, regardless of age. Happy Easter!
