Flash Mob - An increasing trend in India

Flashmob is getting trendy in India.I tempt to write about it when I saw a Flash mob happening at my office cafeteria. It was thrill and entertaining.Till now it was common in Europe and US, but now we see it often in India. For all those who are not still aware about Flashmob, here is a small definition:

What is a Flashmob?

A Flash mob is a group of people who gather suddenly at a public place and perform some entertaining act(it can be dance, act or sometime pointless act), and then disperse in crowd.

Every Flash mob contains 3 steps:

  1. Planning: Flash mob are often conducted by social organization, usually organized in closed loop. They practice together and keep it secret to them and then they conduct it at right them.
  2. Participation: As the name also suggest any common people can participate in it , but saying that it is limited to group of people.
  3. Objective: The main motive of the event is to entertain and collaborate, without any tangible benefit or incentives. But it may lead to intangible benefits like social recognition.

A Flash mob venue and time is always kept secret to a group of people so that information will not be leaked and matter of surprise is maintained. It also requires to coordination among people so that the act looks good.Generally it is conducted at public places, mall or inside an organization. If it is conducted at public places it requires permission from authorities like police, administrations etc.

One of the Flash mob recently conducted is at Mumbai at LTT railway station. It was highly appreciated all over India and then we seen once more at Delhi. And recently I witnessed one at my Infosys campus Pune. They performed on a song from Slumdog Millionaire "Jai Ho".It was wonderfully coordinated and well appreciated.

So its time for you too to plan an event like it , you just need a bunch of enthusiastic people and a big speaker and you are all set.so surprise your office colleagues with a performance like this.
