Four Classic Christmas Movies to Watch Every Year

Updated on December 21, 2010

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, if not my absolute favorite. One of the things I love to do this time of year is to snuggle up on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn and watch Christmas movies with family and friends. I enjoy nearly any and every movie that has to do with Christmas – even the exceptionally cheesy movies that are geared more towards children than adults. Although I always enjoy watching new Christmas movies that I have not seen before, I do have several favorites that I have to watch at least once sometime during the Christmas season. Sometimes, I watch them even more than once!

White Christmas

White Christmas is the number one movie that I can’t wait to sit down and watch each and every Christmas. I never get tired of watching this great classic holiday film. Filled to the brim with music and dancing, this holiday movie from 1954 is packed with humor, romance, brilliant performances, and astounding musical numbers. White Christmas will have you mesmerized from beginning to end, and will not doubt become a holiday favorite of yours as well!

Elf

Elf is definitely a very entertaining holiday favorite for both children and adults. Although it may seem a bit cheesy to some people, this movie is absolutely hilarious overall. No matter how many times I have seen this movie, there are still certain parts of the movie that always send me into fits of laughter. After all, who can NOT laugh at Will Ferrell? Elf is a genuinely feel-good movie that everyone will love!

The Grinch

The Grinch is yet another holiday favorite that everyone in the family will enjoy. I have always loved Dr. Seuss’ original story, and this movie makes the original story come to life. The Grinch is both hilarious and heart warming, and with Jim Carey playing the Grinch, there are definitely lots of laughs throughout the movie!

It's A Wonderful Life

It’s a Wonderful Life, in my opinion, is one of the best holiday movies ever made. Although it was originally filmed in black and white, it is also now available to watch in color as well. Filmed in 1946, this movie tells the story of a young man named George Bailey and his journey as an angel shows him how his life would have been if he had never been born. It’s a Wonderful Life is truly a timeless classic that everyone will enjoy watching every holiday season.

Which of these four Christmas movies would you most like to see?

If you haven’t seen one or even any of these movies before, I highly recommend that you grab a bowl of popcorn – and maybe even some spiced cider or eggnog – and find the time to watch at least one of them sometime this holiday season. There is nothing like watching a great holiday movie with family or friends to get you in the Christmas spirit. I hope everyone has a truly beautiful Christmas this year!
