Holiday Song about Moving West (manifest destiny) in history to the tune of "All I want for Christmas is you"

Updated on November 16, 2011

By: Jordan Scott

I like to see a man proud of the

Place in which he lives.

I like to see a man live so

That his place will be proud of him.

Do you know who said that?

Well it was the 16th president,

Abraham Lincoln!

America just wants to…

They just want to go move West,

Manifest destiny, yeah!

(And oh!)

They rode on dirty wagons

From east to west for new life

It was called the Oregon Trail

A hopeful place, oh yeah, yeah.

Families looking for gold and glory!

Constant need for water and fuel.

Slavery was really bad,

The north was just fed up!

And civil war came cause of,

States right, economics and…

California gold rush came next

“Miners with real cool blue shirts”

They’re just gonna keep on waiting

Till they hit the big jack pot

“Bleeding Kansas” was going on meanwhile

So many unhappy southerners

Fights were breaking out: ow, ow, ow

Popular sovereignty, thumbs down.

Preston Brooks attacked Charles Sumner!

With a cane and much force.

What more could they do?

America just wants to….

Move West!

Uncle Tom’s Cabin was a hit

It was very popular

(As well as)

The Dred Scott decision…

What a great last name, oh yeah!

He was a free slave,

But the court ruled him worthless
