Independence Day - Freedom for All – needs to be celebrated the whole month of #July4th

Updated on June 29, 2016

Freedom (liberty) by two different names

We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others, the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men’s labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name – liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names – liberty and tyranny.” Abraham Lincoln, 1864.

He who does justice unto the oppressed; who gives bread to the hungry. The LORD looses the prisoners (other versions say: gives freedom) - Psalms 146: 7

Let's Celebrate our Freedom the whole month of July

Once again on July 4th, we celebrate our nation’s 240th birthday and I as a newly nationalized citizen wanted to celebrate this great country by asking our present local leaders to proclaim the month of July: as Freedom month.

So I’ll try to make my case here on why we need to have a nationwide, but state-run Month of Freedom celebrated in each of the 50 states as is culturally relevant to them. After all, we have Black History Month, Hispanic Month, Irish-American month, Pride month & day-long celebrations (which turn into month-long marketing events) for presidents, dignitaries, mothers and fathers, children... Aren’t we all Americans regardless of race, place of origin, culture, or ideology. Whether you were born here or became a citizen let us not forget that we choose what America stands for: Freedom. The months of July and August have the shortest lists of commemorations somehow and celebrating our many freedoms is certainly commemoration-worthy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commemorative_months#July

Freedom to celebrate our Freedom

With a Freedom month, I’d like to rekindle, reeducate & celebrate from the bottom up what’s great about America & ignite a fiery zeal for those things that are not so great about her. I don’t think the true message of freedom is appreciated by celebrating our 3 day weekend, hamburgers & hotdogs on the grill, parades and parties all decked out in red, white, blue stars & stripes. Something’s lost in translation by today’s relentless marketing platforms to advertise their biggest sale of the year – even when our residents gained more stuff they didn’t need but lost more money (and gained more debt) yet the connection with the historical America & the relevance of her story to our reality is buried even further down in our conscience.

There is not another country that does not know about America be it true or false, and for the most part the opinion was positive. Anybody who was not free in their country wanted to come to America or at least emulate what it was that America offered [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. We were the envy and admiration of the world not too long ago. Now, I get the distinct feeling that it’s America’s own countrymen who are lulled to deceptive sleep while their country is being irreparably “changed” under their noses (http://johannaboomsma.hubpages.com/hub/Is-Patriot-Day-the-Sign-that-Schools-of-Thought-are-at-War) and along with it their positive opinions. We aren’t even aware that our freedoms, endowed to us by our Creator (freedom to choose Genesis 1-3, Joshua 24:15. John 15:16 www.biblegateway.com etc.), and legally protected by their country’s Constitution (http://constitution.org/constit_.htm ) are frequently being trampled on (e.g., [Federal] Executive & Supreme Court decisions that overrule State’s voting decisions https://www.judicialwatch.org/about/).

Nothing tells America’s story (or life!) better than living and bearing the struggle with other people in our communities. So even if our State’s leaders don’t proclaim an official Month of Freedom I’d like to encourage us the People of the United States of America to engage in commemorating our freedoms with your community members and freely give to your community to make it the best it can be….

Wishing you all: Happy Freedom Day all Month long America! And Happy Independence Day and God bless us all!
