Part One: Month Long Holidays in October
October starts off the Holiday season. From Halloween to Thanksgiving in November to Christmas in December, it seems like they flash right before our eyes. There are more Holidays than just Halloween in October, however. Here is a list of the different Holidays in October and why we celebrate them.
October 1st and all Through October
National Book Month
Are you a book lover? If so, October is the month for you to celebrate your love for books. Starting on October 1st and lasting all through the month of October is National Book Month. Why do we celebrate this Holiday? Why wouldn't we? Books are a joy to read whether they are fiction or non-fiction, not only do we get to read a story about others but they teach us important things as well. Why not pick up your favorite book or a book you haven’t read yet and start reading to celebrate this great Holiday for the love of our most treasured books?
Adopt a Shelter Animal
Have a love for animals? Instead of going to a breeder, why not adopt a shelter animal? All month we are celebrating Adopt a Shelter animal. Shelter animals are just as lovable as pure bred animals and maybe even more. Shelter animals need good homes and good people to care for them. Next time you decide to add a new family member to your household, visit your local shelter and adopt a shelter animal. They will love you for it!
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
All month long everyone is celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. Do you know someone who has or has had and survived Breast Cancer? If so, why not do something nice for them all month long or, better yet, every single day to show how much you care. Donate to your favorite breast cancer charity and give from your heart.
Computer Learning Month
Do you love computers and everything that goes with them? Or do you want to learn about computers? Maybe you don’t know everything you should know about them. If so, take advantage of this month long October Holiday, Computer Learning Month. If you do know everything about computers, why not teach someone else about them? However, you celebrate, make sure to learn and have fun at the same time!
Family History Month
All through the month of October is the month to celebrate Family History Month. Although we should celebrate our family’s history as often as possible, October is the month to really celebrate it. Use this month to learn about your Ancestors and to spend more time with your close loved ones. Why not visit and spend time with extended family as well?
