Easter Basket Ideas | Teenagers Need Easter Baskets Too!

Updated on August 3, 2013

Easter Baskets are for Teenagers Too!

You are not going to find a whole lot of pre-made Easter baskets for teenagers in the stores. Seems the retail world is still caught up in the wee ones when it comes to Easter. Not a bad thing -- unless you are a teenager.

As my kids got older, moving on to middle school, high school and then college, they still wanted baskets. There is something nostalgic and comforting about still receiving the traditional Easter basket no matter how old you are.

So, what can you do? Do what I do -- Make your own Easter basket for teenagers!

Here, you'll find some of the ideas I have used for baskets/containers along with tons of ideas for filling the Easter basket. Let's get to it!

Purchase a container that teens can use after Easter instead of the traditional Easter baskets. A bit more grown up and you get more for your money.

Guys will use a drawstring bag too. They can pack a change of clothes for after practice or conditioning. Use it to bring home books and papers from school or a towel for a trip to the gym. Useful containers make your money well spent!

Easter for Older Kids

Baskets don't have to be baskets. In fact, a teenager would much rather have a container that celebrates a sports team, college or brand they love. Think organizing their room -- shaving supplies -- make-up and such.

Get them started and they might even clean their room!

Egg Hunt for Teenagers

Once my son was in high school, he vetoed hunting for Easter eggs.

His little sister still wanted him to participate so we figured out a way.

Her eggs were pastel plastic ones filled with candy and goodies. His were sports ball shapes filled with coins or paper money.

Worked like a charm!

Teenagers - Gals

A few more ideas here for that teen gal on your Easter Basket list.

If she has a collection or hobby, include something that goes along with it. What about a pillow, throw or poster for her room? A piece of jewelry is usually embraced by a teen girl. I have found that gift cards work too!

Teenagers - Guys

Guys are pretty easy to find little gifts for too. What about a flash drive in an appropriate shape? A lanyard is popular with guys for their keys.

There's always wallets or money clips, ear buds and trunk organizers for their cars (that's a good Easter Basket container too!)

Again, gift cards are a great way to go -- fast food, X-Box, hip clothing stores, gasoline cards and music. It's hard to to wrong with gift cards!
